'There will be no C, X or Q in our everyday alphabet'? That sounds like those old Publisher's Letters in the Onion.

I'm going to guess that snopes hasn't caught up with this one yet. I'm suspicious.

That's cool! America will have a population of 500 million. American's will be taller. There will be no C, X or Q in our alphabet. Hot and cold are from spigots to adjust temperature. No mosquitoes nor flies. Ready-cooked meals will be bought from bakeries. No foods will be exposed. Coal will not be used for heating or cooking. No street cars in large cities. Photographs will be telegraphed. Trains will travel 150 MPH. Automobiles will be cheaper than horses. Everybody will walk 10 miles. Travel to England in 2 days. There will be Air-Ships. Aerial War-Ship and forts on wheels. There will be no wild animals. Man will see around the world. Telephones around the world. Grand opera will be telephoned into homes. Children will be taught differently. Store purchases by tube. Vegetables grown by electricity. Oranges will grow in Philadelphia. Strawberries as large as apples. Peas as large as beets. Black, blue and green roses. Few drugs will be swallowed. What an interesting look at that time period and predictions. Makes you wonder about what we predict for the next 100 years. Some of them are spot-on and some are SO far off. I think the most hilarious is "Few drugs will be swallowed"....as this is the high point of prescription drug use and abuse. Where did you find that? It's so cool.

EatingTheRoad That's cool! Everybody will walk 10 miles. I agree with that one! I can do 10 miles a day easy! that's only a 2 1/2 hour walk

I recall chuckling while watching the "Back to the Future" Trilogy. In the third one, when the heros were back in the 'Wild West' in the 1880's the old guys in the saloon really hooted at the thought of 'Horseless Carriages' and 'Walking for Recreation' ! I do remember some of the concerns expressed in the newspapers in SoCal about what would happen if we elected a Roman Catholic President (JFK) in 1960. It was considered to be as unlikely as if we would elect a Black Man. Maybe we have come along further than the "seers" made allowance for???

"Food animals will be bred to expend practically all of their life energy in producing meat, milk, wool and other by-products." "The farmers of South America, South Africa, Australia and the South Sea Islands, whose seasons are directly opposite to ours, will thus supply us in winter with fresh summer foods, which cannot be grown here." "Ready-cooked meals will be bought from establishments similar to our bakeries of today. They will purchase materials in tremendous wholesale quantities and sell the cooked foods at a price much lower than the cost of individual cooking." "Persons and things of all kinds will be brought within focus of cameras connected electrically with screens at opposite ends of circuits, thousands of miles at a span."

I'm skeptical of this one. Why did no one see this in Y2K?
