I know about HDMI.  Just not sure how I'd use it.  I also know that you do NOT have to buy the gold cables ever.  They all work alike.  It's just a bonus up sale for the merchant.

I love the garage door remote interface in my car.

Also the little lever that increases or decreases my cruise control by 5 mph or 1 mph.  Very easy to stay the speed limit while cruising.

I know about HDMI.  Just not sure how I'd use it.  I also know that you do NOT have to buy the gold cables ever.  They all work alike.

My first HDMI app was for my Sony 60" SXRD which was 'state of the art' in 2007.

Even though it cost $3,400 the retailer made me pay $129. extra for the freaking HDMI cable

(I told them that was like buying a new Cadillac, then being told that the distributor cap was another grand.  The young salesman asked "What is a distributor cap?"  We both laughed and I paid).

Today, my trusty Sony, the first of the 1080p resolution, is definitely obsolete; it uses digital light processing instead of LEDs or plasma and it needs a new projection lamp every three years; I just installed my third - total cost of $800 for the three.  It's definitely time for a new one when this bulb burns out.  By then a new 60" LED will probably be $500!

These days most every electronic item (cable boxes, TV's, computers, displays, DVD players, etc.) can accommodate HDMI and, in fact, needs such a hookup for optimal function.  The good news here is that many items com with an HDMI cable included; those that don't - just buy one for $10 or so at Best Buy.  And yes, they do make heavy 'gold' cables (Monster) that are quite expensive but are not necessary for optimal performance.

So,
1) Check the back of your electronics and see if there are any HDMI slots.  If so, use them; otherwise you are not getting the performance you've already paid for!

2) And, check the output of your cable box/DVR.  They all have adjustable outputs: 480, 720, and 1080.  If, e.g., you have a 1080 TV with an HDMI connection to a cable box/DVR that is 'set' to 480 or 720 you are not getting what you are paying for

This happened to me!  I thought my Sony was 'going bad' and looked closely (for the first time!) at my cable box.  Next to the large channel indicator lights was a very tiny 720.  I called Time Warner technical and made the adjustment to 1080.  HUGE DIFFERENCE!  Suddenly, my trusty Sony's picture looked like the ones I lust after every time I walk into Sam's or Costco!

I have my 32" LCD tv in my bedroom connected to my pc via HDMI (which basically makes it a third monitor), and use a remote that controls Windows Media Center on my pc. So I can switch from regular tv to Netflix without having to get up and futz around on the computer.

I love my Nikon COOLPIX camera!

Good to hear.  We hate ours.  It was always had to operate, and it's been back to the factory once, and it doesn't even come with a manual, so we don't know all its features.  But that's okay, because we hardly pick it up any more anyway.

And I'm really mad at Ashton Kutcher.

But you do take, and post, some fantastic pictures.

Bummer that you hate your camera!  Mine came with an easy to understand manual and is a snap (get it?) to operate.
Thanks about the pictures.

Years ago a buddy who owned an after-market car business (stereos, alarms, tinting, striping, detailing, etc.) turned me on to this stuff; it is, bar none, the best all-purpose cleaner I've ever encountered!  Typically, you can find it at auto parts stores.

Here is another product that is absolutely awesome in cleaning bugs off your vehicle. We carry this in our RV.

Marie Callender Coconut Cream Pie is really tasty. A big pie, it is so sweet you only need a small piece.

BILTMORE (r) frozen "Italian Mascarpone Torta".  At $8.50 for a pre sliced 8 pc cake, it is a deal for what you get. It is of "bought in" restaurant quality, and good enough to serve to your friends.

Here is the Biltmore retailer search site.

As Biltmore is in Asheville, NC it appears that most of their retailers are in the Southeast.  I checked my old zip in NoVa and Harris-Teeter carries the brand.

And speaking of favorite Carolina things, they also carry this!  And this!

A couple of local products....
Dr Rub BBQ sauce, available a  local farmer's market and on the internet. I think that it may be (or made to look like) a 1 person company.

Stretch Tite plastic wrap. Long sold to the food service trade with the slogan "Cover your profits", it is now sold in retail sizes. The wrap is good, but the high quality package is great. The yellow and blue tough cardboard box makes the product EASY to use. Right now I am using up a roll of Glad wrap that my wife bought. The wrap is fine, but the flimsy packaging causes #@&**%% to come out of my mouth as I try to use it up.

As an aside, when Stretch Tite first came out, the "Cover your profits" ads featured local pizza great Tony's Sutton Pizza. He has a copy on the wall. I see him walking now and then. I tell him that he made me fat, and he says that I could put on a few pounds. World class pizza by a great wife/husband team. Rt 146, Sutton Mass, at Boston Road.

"My Pillow".  ( www.mypillow.com )

I bought one at a home show four years ago after seeing their infomercial (which seemed too good to be true).

Well, it is true.  No waking to turn the pillow.  No cricks in the neck, etc.

I've never slept better - at least insofar as pillows affect sleep; there is however the issue of a 66 y.o. bladder.

I love the thing and have purchased several more.

OH brand Danish Kringle, at Trader Joe. It is made way out in Wisconsin. If it is fresh here in Massachusetts, I can only imagine how good it is in Racine. www.ohdanishbakery.com

Tired of the rings left in your coffee cups?  Of the wine stains in your glasses?  Of spots and cloudiness?  Me, too.

Fight back against the 'Green Weenies':

The Original Cascade (with phosphates).

You get 35# of the 'real deal' at your door for about two bucks a pound.  Our last order lasted almost two years.  Our new order arrived just today.

It never gets humid in the Dallas area. Summers are cool and crisp there.

Short answer is yes, but don't use it to brush your teeth.

About three months ago we ran out of the 'good stuff' and bought 2 large bottles of the "(Al Gore Approved)" New Cascade Liquid at Costco.  In no time at all I noticed rings in the coffee cups and Paisano  () stains on the glasses I use 'after 5'.

My new supply hit the doorstep the other day and the stains are now gone.
