Propane vs equipment

I am curious how many fryers and grill can be operated from one 100 lb propane tank? How many BTUs and it handle? I have one fryer and one grill. That is all the propane equipment I have for a total of approx 160,000 BTU. Does anyone have similar equipment or am I expecting too much from the equipment off of the 100 lb tank. I also have a spare 100 lb tank as backup. Appreciate any comments. Thanks Ray

1 gal propane = 4.23 lbs 1 gal propane = 91,600 BTU's, BUT the OPD valve limits = 90,000 btu/hr. All tanks 40# or less have OPD values. Some 100# tanks may have a OPD but they are not required. 100 lb propane tank = 23.6 gals ** At full usage it takes 24 hours to empty the 100# tank w/ OPD @ 90,000 btu/hr or 13-1/2 hrs @ 160,000 If your tanks have a OPD valve you may want to look at running 2 tanks for 160, 000 BTU's worth of equipment if you run everything at the same time since the OPD valve has a 90,000 limit.

I appreciate the replies about the propane tanks and equipment. I have a spare 100 lb tank which I will need as a spare. Most events so far this year (which is my first yr) are only 1 and 2 days. The longest i about 8 hrs. I have a fryer at work which is 170K and use a 100 lb tank and it runs just fine from that. Thanks again

I run a fryer, 4' flat top, 3' char broiler & oven from a #100lb tank. No problems except when the temps are in the single digits or lower... then I have to turn up the regulator a bit.

I just ordered a 2 stage regulator in which the first stage is preset and I can adjust the second stage to allow more gas to the fryer. Using the waer/gas ration adjustment tube I need to get around 10 to 11 but can only get around 6 on the scope. So I hope this will do the job.
