          He really was in just about everything. I looked up his list of roles and it was astounding. Even though he played mostly cranky, skinflints, they said he was kind and generous in real life.

          What stories he could probably tell!

                I agree with you Katie, My first thought was Little house on the prairie, among many others, then i saw the filmography and holy cow he had a lot of credits under his belt.

                    He has a terrific obit at the NYTs movie section. Apparently he had no recall of the names of the movies he was in, and there were a lot of them.
