wow, bummer. One of the only edible foods during the 80's.
I don't think the students will really miss it. Campus food has improved tremendously. As the article pointed out, the alumni, however, are going to be highly disappointed when they return to campus in the Fall for football.

Ah, but apparently there's a chance for a tasty replacement: "breaded chicken cutlet products"!

I understand the nostalgia...every year when I visit (not Penn State) and a group of us are walking past the dining hell hall invariably someone will bring up some of the fine cuisine we enjoyed as undergrads...

my brother had the dubious honor of working in the dining halls. One of the boxes that the frozen beef came in read "low-grade, but edible." This was circa 1984.

I was there '74 to '78 and lived in East Halls in '74 and '75. I don't remember that being served then. I hate seeing any traditions at PSU die.

Brings back memories of my freshman year in Pollack Halls (2002-03). But even by then, the cosmo was't one of the favorites that we looked foward to for either lunch or dinner. Not a great product, but it does bring back good memories.

Pierce Chicken Products, makers of the breaded chicken patties, is the foodservice division of Pilgrim's Pride Corporation. I can't see why the University's dining operations can't get some other vendor to produce a knock-off for them. After serving them for 26 years, there can't be any valid patents covering the production of the patties any more.
