Re:Rank these in order....FF burger/FF Joints 2012/12/02 13:12:58 (permalink)
Out of the options listed, I would rank them in this order.

1. Wendy's
2. Sonic
3. McDonald's
4. KFC
5. Burger King

BK and KFC are just plain sad anymore. The Whopper lost it's way and KFC's chicken tasted like an overpriced salt lick(this coming from a salt-a-holic). McDonald's is, well McDonald's. Not much needs to be said about them. I enjoy Sonic from time to time, but I rarely go out of my way to eat at one. Actually, the last time I went to one was just to get a couple of bags of ice. Of the ones we had to choose from, Wendy's tops the list due to their spicy chicken sandwich and better tasting burgers.

Going outside the parameters, when it comes to fast food chicken, Popeye's and Chick-Fil-A top the list.

The best place for fast burgers at a decent price? Cookout. You can get a grilled quarter pound burger and a large fry for under $5, and it's much better than Five Guys. I do enjoy Five Guys though, but it makes no sense to pay four dollars more for the same thing, when Cookout is practically right next door in neck my of the woods.  They also make really good shakes I might add.

Might as well add sub chains to the discussion. Subway is not very good, nor worth it, as none of their foot longs should cost more than $5. Panera is good but overpriced for what you get, and Quizno's is never convenient, nor worthy of the cost as well. Of all the chains, Jason's Deli and Firehouse offer the best bang for your buck.

Cookout? Jason's Deli? Firehouse? Must be regional chains...never heard of them either here in Michigan or anywhere I've traveled in the US. Although it's been years since I was on the East coast; I tend to spend more time on the Gulf coast and out West.

we have Jason's Deli in the Chicago area, just walked by the Naperville outlet today on the way to Naf Naf, an Israeli restaurant.

Yeah, I looked them all up. Jason's is in big cities, but nowhere I usually go. Cookout appears to be VERY regional, in only 3-4 states (primarily North Carolina). And Firehouse looks to have about the same geographic smattering as Jason's.

Not a thing, really, I was just commenting that they must not be widely available chains.

A Firehouse Subs place opened a mile and a half from me about a month ago. I've never been there, but the parking lot is usually pretty full whenever I go by. It's located across the intersection from the high school.

Thought I'd revive this topic on a slow day...

1. In-N-Out
2. Sonic
3. Smashburger
4. Culver's
5. Five Guys

By the way, what happened to Rally's the past few years? They've been closing like crazy in southern Ohio. I went to one in a hurry in Northern Kentucky and they screwed my order up and the burgers were dry and flavorless. I used to be a big fan, but I have no desire to go back now.

Okay--I'll jump in here.  Using the original list:
KFC
Sonic
McDonald's
Burger King
Wendy's

However, my favorite fast food is Bojangles, as I can get biscuit sandwiches all day, and I also like Popeye's, especially their mashed potatoes and gravy.  For fast food burgers, if I'm near a Roy Rogers I'll get a Double R Bar Burger every time.  I also like being able to get breakfast any time of day at Jack in the Box.

Disclaimer:  I've not been to a bunch of the places listed above, like Culvers, Steak and Shake, Smashburger, etc.

Considering the list I would Rank them as:

Burger King
Sonic
Wendy's
KFC
McDonalds

Whataburger in the South would actually be my #1 if on the list.  I do have withdrawal systems since moving North for their cheeseburger.

My 10 year old grandchildren have actually sworn off McDonalds and we only go there in a desperate late night pinch.  Two out of the three we frequent have the most awful pickles- sometimes unchewable, the third never gets our order correct so  they have chosen Wendy's.

I grew up on KFC but the last bucket I had just didn't have the correct texture or taste.

Really? I've been eating them for a very long time -- usually for lunch. No libations first.

I keep frozen White Castle cheeseburgers in my freezer.  Great for a quick microwave lunch.

As have I. It's just the stereotype. Everybody thinks that you have to be drunk in order to eat there. The trick is that you have to eat the sliders FRESH off the grill, or else they get hard and stale.

The stereotype came from there being two food choices when leaving the bar: White Castle and Denny's. I've eaten them sober more often than while intoxicated, but I have to admit they're better under the influence.

Wendy's is just awful anymore. I don't like their new burgers, and $1.80 for a plain baked potato? I do like their spicy chicken sandwich and chili on occasion, but man that place is pricey now. Last time I ordered a double burger combo and it was over $8. Might as well go to a sit down place at that point. And I really miss their chicken pita sandwiches from the mid-late 90's. those were amazing!

If McDonald's had breakfast all day, it'd be number one easily.

My favorite burger chain is Steak and Shake though. Never had a bad meal there, and the prices are reasonable. Love their garlic butter burger.

I have modified my previous entry (a year ago.)
1. Popeyes Chicken (Spicy) Skip all the sides and other stuff.

2 Rally's Baconzilla or Double Bacon Cheeseburger. And they still add flavoring to their Cokes for no extra charge.

3. J-I-B - TACOS, TACOS, and More TACOS.

4. CULVER's- Great Bugers, Walleye Sandwiches (in season) and Custard...not Kopp's for sure, but it's all we have Close by.

5. Wendy's - CHILI on a winter day..be sure it is served HOT

Not wild about any of these, but here's the ORDER from best to worst:

1.  Sonic (but only for their breakfast sandwiches and fruity drinks, cuz the fries are gawdawful and the burgers almost as bad)
2.  KFC (for their once-a-week chicken-fried steak meal and consistently good standard fried chicken...and those tasty and probably heart-killing biscuits)
3.  Burger King (for their burgers)
4.  McDonald's (for, for, for, ummm, well, maybe their french fries)
5.  Wendy's (I have yet to eat anything from Wendy's that had much flavor or texture)

I've never been to Sonic.
I refuse to go to Burger King as I have never had anything I liked there.
Wendy's makes me sad.  Back when I was in high school in the 70s my dad used to get us dinner from the Wendy's drive-through every Saturday night, and it was a real treat.  Now it seems inedible.  However their root beer floats are great so if I go by one I might get one of those.
I only like McDonald's for breakfast.  However I love McDonald's for breakfast!  I wish they served it later into the day than 10:30.
So of the choices listed, KFC is the only one I like.  Original recipe chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, biscuit; yum!
My top choice, that I get at least twice a week, is Chick-Fil-A.  Their nuggets are perfect and have the advantage of being easy to eat while driving, which you can't do with KFC!
