Ok.admittedly it is a slow day and I actually had some "libation" left over from the Football games of the weekend.

I'm just wondering ........and i know there are several threads on similar topics.....how most of you would rank the following  in food (taste only!)
1. McDonalds
2.Burger King
3. Wendy's
4. KFC
5.Sonic

I know there are others............and if you wanna add an "A" for your fav..........Jakes, Five Guys, In and out, etc that is fine......but they are more limited geographically

You can just rank them 1-5.with one being the best...........or those of you with a scientific bent can give eacha 1-100 score.......with 100 obviously top

I've only been to a Sonic maybe twice and it was a while ago, as we don't have them in this part of the country. And if you'd have asked me this 20 years ago or more, it would be very different.

1. Sonic
2. KFC
3. Burger King
4. McDonald's
5. Wendy's

4. McDonald's
5. Wendy's

I hate pretty much everything Wendy's makes, outside of the frosty. And really...a cup of ice cream isn't worth going there, especially when Steak & Shake is closer. Steak & Shake, by the way, would be my #1 were it on the list.

I've never been to Sonic although we do have them now in the Chicago suburbs.

1. Burger King, maybe twice a year I like a Whopper.
2. KFC but I never go there. Last time was after I had a tooth pulled and my mouth was still frozen. I needed mashed potatoes asap!
3. Mc Donalds once or twice a year for a kids McNuggets and a $1 salad.
4. Culver's. They have a great pot roast sandwich!
5. Wendy's if on the road

We eat mostly at local small places if we eat out. I am handicapped now and don't get out much so once and a while I like a good carry out meal. I do have friends who will pick up a lunch and come visit me now and then, hence going to a FF place.

2. Rally's/Checkers
3.Popeye's (over KFC)
4. Wendy's
5. Ain't even going to put BK on here, as I'd rather eat month old Mississippi road kill. So, KFC.

I rather like Sonic's offerings and, on our recent road trip south we actually ate at 2, by choice. Love their cheddar peppers and Super Sonic Cheeseburger.  Rally's/Checkers is also decent. Far better than McD's.

I can't stand eating in the car, either. Some Sonics have tables outside, but you can only eat there in decent weather. As I seldom pass Sonics, I think I may have actually eaten at one twice. Maybe three times, but no more than that.

I'm surprised to see how many ranked Sonic so high. About a year or so ago, we finally got a Sonic near by and I was NOT impressed at all. The only thing that was decent were the real fruit slushies and those aren't that good anymore either. With that being said,
1. Burger King (whopper)
2. McDonalds (fries)
3. Wendys (chili)
4. Sonic (slushies, happy hour 1/2 off)
5. KFC (when all else fails)

Forgot about A &W I might rank them #1

Burgerville is a regional/local chain in the Oregon/washington area. I have heard they are spreading out further, but haven't seen the details of that. maybe Mr Chips can give us the word.
Burgerville does a good job... first Sweet Potatoes French fries I ever had.

Using the original 5 fast food chain choices given, I agree with the order given by tkitna and chewingthefat.

Picking my own top 5 fast food chains, I'd probably rank them as:

1.  Five Guys
2.  Steak 'N' Shake
3.  Fatburger (They're only in 8 states.  Nearest to me is in MD)
4.  Chick-fil-A
5.  Hardees (for their biscuits and hot ham & cheese)

If very small, very localized fast food chains are allowed, I'd add:

Walt's Roast Beef (5 locations in RI).
Jake's Wayback Burger (In northern DE and northeastern MD)

EDIT:  I just looked up Jake's Wayback Burgers.  Apparently, they are not as small anymore.  There were just a handful of locations in northern DE a few years ago.  Now, they are in 15 states with about 60 locations.

Out of the options listed, I would rank them in this order.

1. Wendy's
2. Sonic
3. McDonald's
4. KFC
5. Burger King

BK and KFC are just plain sad anymore. The Whopper lost it's way and KFC's chicken tasted like an overpriced salt lick(this coming from a salt-a-holic). McDonald's is, well McDonald's. Not much needs to be said about them. I enjoy Sonic from time to time, but I rarely go out of my way to eat at one. Actually, the last time I went to one was just to get a couple of bags of ice. Of the ones we had to choose from, Wendy's tops the list due to their spicy chicken sandwich and better tasting burgers.

Going outside the parameters, when it comes to fast food chicken, Popeye's and Chick-Fil-A top the list.

The best place for fast burgers at a decent price? Cookout. You can get a grilled quarter pound burger and a large fry for under $5, and it's much better than Five Guys. I do enjoy Five Guys though, but it makes no sense to pay four dollars more for the same thing, when Cookout is practically right next door in neck my of the woods.  They also make really good shakes I might add.

Might as well add sub chains to the discussion. Subway is not very good, nor worth it, as none of their foot longs should cost more than $5. Panera is good but overpriced for what you get, and Quizno's is never convenient, nor worthy of the cost as well. Of all the chains, Jason's Deli and Firehouse offer the best bang for your buck.

Yeah, I looked them all up. Jason's is in big cities, but nowhere I usually go. Cookout appears to be VERY regional, in only 3-4 states (primarily North Carolina). And Firehouse looks to have about the same geographic smattering as Jason's.

Not a thing, really, I was just commenting that they must not be widely available chains.

By the way, what happened to Rally's the past few years? They've been closing like crazy in southern Ohio. I went to one in a hurry in Northern Kentucky and they screwed my order up and the burgers were dry and flavorless. I used to be a big fan, but I have no desire to go back now.

Wendy's

However, my favorite fast food is Bojangles, as I can get biscuit sandwiches all day, and I also like Popeye's, especially their mashed potatoes and gravy.  For fast food burgers, if I'm near a Roy Rogers I'll get a Double R Bar Burger every time.  I also like being able to get breakfast any time of day at Jack in the Box.

Burger King
Sonic
Wendy's
KFC
McDonalds

Whataburger in the South would actually be my #1 if on the list.  I do have withdrawal systems since moving North for their cheeseburger.

My 10 year old grandchildren have actually sworn off McDonalds and we only go there in a desperate late night pinch.  Two out of the three we frequent have the most awful pickles- sometimes unchewable, the third never gets our order correct so  they have chosen Wendy's.

I grew up on KFC but the last bucket I had just didn't have the correct texture or taste.

Wendy's is just awful anymore. I don't like their new burgers, and $1.80 for a plain baked potato? I do like their spicy chicken sandwich and chili on occasion, but man that place is pricey now. Last time I ordered a double burger combo and it was over $8. Might as well go to a sit down place at that point. And I really miss their chicken pita sandwiches from the mid-late 90's. those were amazing!

If McDonald's had breakfast all day, it'd be number one easily.

My favorite burger chain is Steak and Shake though. Never had a bad meal there, and the prices are reasonable. Love their garlic butter burger.

Not wild about any of these, but here's the ORDER from best to worst:

1.  Sonic (but only for their breakfast sandwiches and fruity drinks, cuz the fries are gawdawful and the burgers almost as bad)
2.  KFC (for their once-a-week chicken-fried steak meal and consistently good standard fried chicken...and those tasty and probably heart-killing biscuits)
3.  Burger King (for their burgers)
4.  McDonald's (for, for, for, ummm, well, maybe their french fries)
5.  Wendy's (I have yet to eat anything from Wendy's that had much flavor or texture)

I've never been to Sonic.
I refuse to go to Burger King as I have never had anything I liked there.
Wendy's makes me sad.  Back when I was in high school in the 70s my dad used to get us dinner from the Wendy's drive-through every Saturday night, and it was a real treat.  Now it seems inedible.  However their root beer floats are great so if I go by one I might get one of those.
I only like McDonald's for breakfast.  However I love McDonald's for breakfast!  I wish they served it later into the day than 10:30.
So of the choices listed, KFC is the only one I like.  Original recipe chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, biscuit; yum!
My top choice, that I get at least twice a week, is Chick-Fil-A.  Their nuggets are perfect and have the advantage of being easy to eat while driving, which you can't do with KFC!
