Rapping in Utah-Dangerous Business - Thu, 11/5/09 11:34 AM ( #1 )

They were just four teen-aged boys, out together. They got hungry and decided to go to a McD's for a quick bite. The boys, on a whim, decided to rap their orders, as per a popular YouTube video.

The McDonalds Burger Rap video clip posted on YouTube has been popular, with over six million views to date. In the video, a young man raps his order at a McDonalds drive through. So when the four lads were out for some quality time last week in American Fork, Utah, it only seemed natural to them to head for the McDonalds drive-through and order their snacks using the McDonalds Burger Rap a la YouTube fame. Instead of getting burgers and fries, the boys were served with citations for disorderly conduct by the police. Spenser Dauwalder, 18, told local media that the staff at the McDonalds did not like the rapping, saying
"... after we played it, they (McDonald's employees) asked if we were going to keep playing games or order."
The young men were told to leave. Staff at the McDonalds in question wrote down the licence plate of the car and called the police. Dauwalder told the Deseret News,
"I just don't understand. We didn't do anything threatening."
However, Sgt. Gregg Ludlow of the American Fork Police told Deseret News the teenagers argued with a manager, swearing at the unnamed woman. Ludlow explained
"The rapping wasn't the issue. It was their refusal to leave and disruption of the business that caused them to be cited for disorderly conduct."
Dauwalder told press that one of the young men did swear, but it wasn't a threat. The young men were said to have been holding up the drive through line, but the youth claim there were no other vehicles in line behind them. The owner of the American Fork McDonalds, Conny Kramer issued a press release that said
"... the authorities were notified as a result of the alleged actions of these individuals in the drive-thru, not as a result of them rapping their order."
With a population of 26,472 people in 2007, American Fork describes itself as a city that provides
"big city opportunities and small town goodness."

What appears to be funny and hip and cool on TV rarely has the same result in real life.

Most of these disorderly conduct citations get thown out of court, However, some have been known to result in a summit being held at the White House. Now only if the press could goad Barack.....
