Rascal's Deli, Blue Ash Mon, 12/27/10 8:19 PM (permalink)
I just learned about this and I am stoked.  Unfortunately, I probably will not be able to check it out until next Monday.  If anyone has been there, what's the scouting report?  The Enquirer gave it a good review, but I am not sure how much to trust my Jewish deli reports to somebody named Campbell ( no offense.)

Cincinnati needs this.  It's sad that the closest decent deli is in <gasp> Cleveland.  (I know, there is a deli called Decent Deli, but I am trying hard to forget it.)

Shapiro's in Indy is much closer than Cleveland, and is quite legit

I seem to recall there is a pretty good deli in Columbus as well but I cannot recall the name.  Perhaps MH will comment on this.

Not sure how a food critic can be judged on the basis of his or her name.

Nope. No decent Jewish delicatessens in Columbus.

But didn't there used to be a pretty good one in Cincinnati? I seem to remember one from back in the '70s and '80s. It was downtown.

The best deli in downtown Cincinnati is probably Silverglade's, which is OK

If you extend the definition of downtown a bit further north, probably one of the vendors at Findlay market, but you are still not in the class of Shapiro's at that point

MH: I think I was thinking of Katzinger's (no personal experience there, just from reading)

TJ...it was a joke.  Thus the smiley.  I've been to Shapiro's, and it's ok, but there is much better stuff to be had in Cleveland, and I get up there on business occasionally.  Katzinger's in Columbus did nothing for me.
