Really good brats from Target, I'm not kidding.

Ok, I live in Texas, far from the brat capitals. I was in a new super Target here in Cedar Park, I checked out the meat case and found these beauties. They are really really good, no MSG, very mild on the spices. Most commercial brats I've found are to heavy on the nutmeg or other spice. These brats have the right blend of spice, fat, meat, etc. The brand is Archer Farms. They also have a sweet Italian, it's good to.

We eat them all the time. Target's Archer Farms house brand is generally good. It is not always a cheaper version of major brands. In fact it is a more upscale brand. Their Market Pantry house brand is generally the less expensive alternative to major brands.

I'm going to see if those brats show up in NYC Metro Target stores. My guess is that they come from brat producers in the Minnesota/Wisconsin/Illinois area. I've found products made by Klements and Leon Sausage Company of the midwest show up in Aldi stores around here. Much better than what is sold in the supermarkets. Not as good as the German meat markets that make their own around here. This is certainly welcome news for folks who do not have a good local producer of brats.
