This may be the only time I ever do this, as I prefer to stick to the food-related topics here, but I will this one speak out and tell you I think this UPN show to be one of the best new shows of the Fall of 2004.

A lot of it, especially if ones turns off the sound, is going to look like one of many somewhat similar "high school kid" shows out there, and I admit the show occasionally lowers itself to that level in an attempt to pick up more of the younger audience. However, at it's core, this is IMHO a well written show with very good characters, and a deep ongoing plotline.

9pm EST at least in the Cincinnati market.

I hope they run some repeats of the early shows, as the one negative of an ongoing plot line is that new viewers have a harder time picking up what's going on. However, some of the plotline can be picked up if you check out theVeronica Mars website.

I'll admit a selfish bent here - I have no idea if the show is doing well in the ratings, but thought I'd plug it here once to help ensure it's survival. I don't see it get a lot of press.

Sadly, I've already got to watch The Amazing Race and record Scrubs during that time slot -- I haven't got time for another show then, no matter how well-reviewed. A shame, since I do hear good things about this one.

Ok, so you haven't watched this show yet, because you figure it has a developing plotline and you've missed too much already.....

.....so this week's show is the one for you: episode 1, in which the overall story and all the major characters get introduced. Also this episode is IMHO by far the best of the series - very well put together and very entertaining.

So tune in on January 18th for a treat....

Oh, and here's one fan's 10 reasons why you should watch this show....

At the risk at this point of appearing to talk (write? dunno) to myself only, I have to ask: did anyone catch last night's showing of the pilot episode of Veronica Mars?

If so, what did you think?

I can't support you on this TJ. I go to bed at 9 and don't have TiVo. Sorry. It looks like those skinny cast members don't eat much roadfood (or much food at all).

Wish I could help, but also an Amazing Race fan, and the UPN "affiliate"
(the best way to describe it) only has a transmitter output of less than
                  a mile (and that's being generous!) [|)]

For all you unrequited Buffy and/or Angel fans out there: next episode of Veronica Mars has Allyson Hannigan in a major guest role that could well lead to a recurring role.

This will air next tuesday night Feb 22, 2005 9pm Eastern

I watch it every week.. My roommate and I LOVE Veronica Mars and are always wondering why more people don't watch it and why it hasn't been picked up by a better station yet...

The characters are well-developed, the actors are great, the dialogue is full of hysterical little asides and comments and the plot is usually full of twists... I think it's a show that most people would enjoy if they'd give it a chance!

Veronica Mars took 56% of the nearly 2/3 of a million votes on E-Online's "Save One Show" poll.

                        !! :-) !!

                        http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Kristin/Archive2005/050318.html

The show with the next most votes had only 9% - Arrested Development

This really and truly is the prototypical "great show watched by no one" that you hear about every now and then. Check it out :-)

Veronica Mars? I dont think so... I'm still angry at TV-Land for pulling Green Acres down to only 1 day a week (Sundays at 11:30am, when I'm still snoozin)... (And still refuse to watch any other shows on that network)...

                                  NEWS POSTED APRIL 9, 2005

Veronica Mars Renewed For A Second Season

Good news.... Couch Baron at Television Without Pity received a phone call today from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas (since, RT seems to think TWoP is the only place any Veronica news goes up online, apparently)... and apparently UPN has made an unprecedented move and they've given the go-ahead for a second season for Veronica Mars.

This is great news, and no doubt helped by the critical acclaim the show's been getting. Now let's get a DVD release before Season Two begins! Please?

For those of you who have never heard of Veronica Mars, here's some info.

It's the only show from the UPN/CBS conglomerate to land on Entertainment Weekly's list of top ten shows of 2004.

Veronica Mars won the recent E! Online Kristin Save One Show poll with an astounding 56% of the votes. Arrested Development came in second with 9% of the vote.

When given a choice between voting for Veronica Mars or Marti Noxon's Point Pleasant in the above mentioned poll, members of whedonesque.com overwhelmingly voted for Veronica Mars. (Marti Noxon was a writer and producer for Buffy.)

Veronica Mars repeats will run on UPN starting 6/14 with the pilot episode, which is where one learns about all the things that will unfold as the season progresses, as well as most of the main characters.

After the pilot (Tuesday 6/14 9pm) the repeats will run all summer at 9pm on Wednesday nights

It just occurred to me that "Veronica Mars" is (sorta kinda) the "Roadfood" of TV at the moment.

                                        Not widely popular
                                        Not as glitzy
                                        excellent quality
small but enthusiastic group of loyal fans
off the beaten path (UPN, the smallest network)

Take the time to start watching the Roadfood of all TV programs when summer repeats start

Date Episode (Episodes air Wednesdays at 9PM)

I still have not seen it, but my 15 yr old daughter mentioned last night that she likes the show. Her TV viewing is almost all non major network.

Minor news to yall, major news to me :-)

Veronica Mars was the 2nd best rated show in the 8-9 time slot on CBS last Friday, 7/29; and third in the 9-10 time slot.

                                              Excellent!

Did any of you watch it?

I note that Veronica is still doing well. A show that I liked, "Head Cases", has already been cxld after just 2 shows. They put it up against "Lost", so I am not surprised. What new shows do you think deserve the ax, and what good shows will be cut before we even knew that they were on?

Actually, Veronica is now scheduled against "Lost" (Wednesday 9pm) and I fear for the show's life at this point.

Well, having watched "lost" last night, I am ready to try something else. The first 15 min was a rehash, even though they had just repeated the previous show at 8. Of the 20 or 25 min of show that was left after ads, a good editor would have picked the best 4 or 5 and moved the series forward. I don't know how I got sucked in. I usually go to bed at 9. I may skip it next week and go to bed, or finally watch Veronica.

Missed this thread the first time around, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show! I don't watch a lot of TV (far too busy) but this show is appointment television for me. Hubby and kids know to leave Mom alone when this one is on! And the complexity of the episodes makes it fun to watch a second and third time.

Ratings remain low, so I sort of doubt it will be renewed, but hope springs eternal...

This is a dark day for me - it was officially announced today that Veronica Mars is cancelled

The CW apparently has no interet in producing legitimate quality television, only in stuff like Pussycat Dolls and Beauty and the Geek.

                                                        Veronica - I'll miss you.
