I've never been to a CIP ... Red Robin started out here in Seattle as a small chain that wanted to grow into a big chain. They have. If you like other TGI Friday's or Chili's-type places you'll probably like Red Robin. I've lived here for 15 years and eaten at Red Robin once. I suspect it's foundation is built on people who are willing to compromise their eating so kids can eat at the chain.

I really don't think Red Robin is anything special. If you are forced to go, stick with a burger and stick with the basics. As with most places like this, they get worse the more cleaver they try to be. So the best thing is the most basic - a regular cheeseburger and steak fries. Of course there are a million places you can get this same thing done just as well so there isn't a good reason to go there in my mind.

Only went once. Food unremarkable. Painfully slow service. Cleanliness obviously not high on management's priority list. Family with baby left just as we arrived. No attempt made to clean the profuse cracker crumbs from the carpet in the walkway next to that table where the highchair had been. Mess still there when we left. (This is not an 'anti-kids-in-restaurants' comment as I had two-ages 5 & 6-with me at the time.)

I like their tower of onion rings. Fresh and crisp with a nice dipping sauce. Other than that, and the bottomless basket of fries, it's like every other chain restaurant.

I agree with Hatteras, the basic stuff is pretty good...but in most places you should be able to get a better burger from the local folks.

I have only eaten there once, at the Cedar Hill, TX location. I enjoyed it and the food, but my 22 yr old son thinks its OK, and when we are running thorugh choices, he nixes it. I ordered a burger with blue cheese and guacamole, and LOVED it! The fries are good and ublimted. I had an iced tea and a margarita, which I drink alternately/simultaneously. Son had a chocolate shake was it was great! it is fairly new around here, and servece was attentive and pleasant and the place was clean and fullof natural light. I will go back.

I've taken grandchildren to Red Robin, and they've always enjoyed it. The only burger they had that I liked is no longer on the menu. I did think their fries were pretty good, but they charge an arm and a leg for the drinks kids like.

They are a chain I really enjoy. Their steak fries are good, to me anyway, because they're not overly salted and they're soft and mealy inside. That's just how I like fries. Plus, I think their Banzai burger is to die for, as it's big, messy and they'll actually cook it rare. It's a mess of pineapple, teriyaki, bloody meat, mayonnaise and lettuce. My pleasure, indeed. They are definitely geared towards children, and as they employ sassy teenagers, the service is not great. And they're not inexpensive. But compared to BK, McD's, etc, they are good. But I'm a sucker for that burger.

I don't understand all the fuss. We ate at a local Red Robin in Milford, OH last year and I found it to be an expensive, indifferent experience. Everything about the meal was lacking except the bill. $60 for a family? I expect a lot better than burgers, fries and milkshakes for my money. There are several places within shouting distance of this place that could have done as well or better for about 1/2 the cost. Lesson learned.

Red Robin is actually one I chain I very happily eat at. I think their burgers are great, especially the bacon guacamole. I've always had very good service, too. And their freckled lemonade, though expensive ,offers unlimited refills, making it not so bad in price (it's lemonade with strawberries mixed in.)

We used to eat at a Red Robin that was next to the Costco we used. Costco moved, and we haven't been back. Any number of places do this better for a little less money. They didn't want to cook any burger less than medium. And about those drink prices--isn't this one of the places that doesn't put the price on their menus? They just mention what they have, and while they do offer free refills IF you can get the attention of the server, they usually charge about $3. Red Lobster pulls this, and serves Pepsi products, so I order ice water when that price isn't on the menu. For that matter, how about all those alcoholic sweet drinks they have to encourage the "very young" adults to drink? That bothers me. Sweet stuff makes the alcohol palatable to them, but the combination produces overly quick "results," which means not only do they get drunk quickly, they get sick quickly. Oh, yeah, then they get in their mommie's car and drive away. Not good.

Michael, our Red Robin definitely has drink prices listed, and I've never had problems getting refills. In fact, last time we were there our waiter brought us refills before we'd even finished or asked for another drink.

I like Red Robin and eat there about twice a month. I like their hamburgers, fries, onion rings, and they make a great Fried Chicken Sandwich.

I really like Red Robin. The Roast Beef Burger is Way Good! The "regular" ground beef burgers are really good as well. I also like the spice mix that's on the tables with my fries. The restaurants tend to be kind of loud, so it's not the place to go to have a heart to heart talk with someone unless you want everyone around you involved as you yell above the tvs.

Although there's one about 2 minutes from my brother's house in lower Bucks County, PA (Neshaminy area), I've only eaten at the one in Glasgow, Delaware. We were on the way down to Chincoteague, VA and were *starving*. My daughter had an online birthday coupon for a free burger (her birthday is September 11), and we were able to use it anytime that month. I'll tell ya, the service was slow and the hamburger was barely warm(had pineapple on it so I think it was a teriyaki burger). I was so hungry, though, I ate it really fast and had to have my daughter feed me antacids while I got back onto Route 1 South. There was really no time to complain as we wanted to get back on the road. If one opens in the South Jersey area (but only really close to where I live), I may give it another chance. We'll see. My brother doesn't like it at all and thinks it's a ripoff.

Long before it became a chain, Red Robin was a single location near the University of Washington. It is still there, but has evolved into the same format as the rest of the chain. Once upon a time, it was an adutlt oriented drinking and eating spot. The first time I ate there (in 1977), their menu featured a lot of exotic (and suggestively) named drinks, and also a whole bunch of large and varied burgers. Over time, the burger side of the operation won out, and the rest is history.

I stopped in at a Red Robin someplace in Pennsylvania while driving to Pittsburgh. I only wanted a high quality burger, fries, and a soda. Drinking was out of the question due to the long drive ahead of me. The price was very high for what I received. I would definitely order something that was harder to make at home than a burger if I had to go along with a group to Red Robin.

I think we used to have one here on long island. Is this the place where redheads get a drink or dessert free (or something like that)? If not does anybody know what place it is? Thanks!

A coworker relayed a rather interesting RR story to me this week. She had given her parents a gift card and when they went to use it they were charged an extra $1.50! Again, I didn't see it happen and heard it secondhand, and I don't know if it's $1.50 the first time the card's used or every time, but still... Anyone know for sure if this is RR corporate policy? Apparently he realizes that I don't need to be protected from myself...well, at least when it comes to ground beef. Brad

We have a few Red Robins here in Columbus OH too. I really enjoy their food, love the idea of limitless fries (they still do that don't they?), though I can never eat more than I am served. I also love their chicken sandwiches and their pork sandwich, delicious! Gotta love the Red Robin season salt, even bought a bottle of it for home. As for Cheeseburger In Paradise, we just got one of those at Polaris, went there and had great food and a great time. Food was reasonably priced too. Spent less there than at Red Robins or Fuddruckers.
