Red Tomato In Madison CT Mon, 10/11/04 10:40 PM (permalink)
I was just back in my hometown of Madison this weekend for columbus day weekend,a 3 day weekend and an excuse to come home from school for the weekend. Well, me and my girlfriend picked up a large pie at Red Tomato, half cheese half house special ( fresh tomato, basil, garlic) always our favorite. Well the pizza made me think how great it was, but at the same time there arent many pizza places that make a pizza like Red Tomato, its the real thin crust and the ingredients everything is just really fresh. Is this a certian style pizza? if so what class does it fit into. I am sure you can just call it your normal thin crust pizza, but I wouldnt say its the same as a Pepes thin crust pizza, there is something different about it, and I cant quite put my finger on it. any opinions?

strange coincidence, I drove past the Red Tomato yesterday, and I remembered your post. The place was very nice looking and cozy. Too, bad, I could not stop in.
Gotta lay off the Mozz cheese for a while. So the tom/basil/garlic combo would fit the bill. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I may give it a try.

Thin crust is usually considered New York or New Haven style.

Where exactly in MAdsion is it? I'm a New Havener who might like to take a jaunt down the Shoreline to give it a try.

new haven style pizza in ct just north of the motherland (NH), fresh shucked clams (never canned), imported italian tomatoes, how bad could it be? ... CT is FULL of great pizza- so much better on average than the junk we get here in NYC they call pizza. in new haven alone there are a BUNCH of great pizza places that don't get the press that sally's, pepe's, modern get, some that even sell slices (naples- classic delicious slice). the average pizza in CT is so much better than anywhere else, how bad could this place be? someone go check it out and report please. enjoy fb
