Rest Haven - Clarksdale, MS

Don't know why the Rest Haven isn't listed, although it's nice to see Hick's and Abe's.

Owned by "Sam", a Lebanese immigrant, it's the daily gathering place for the locals, movers, and shakers - farmers, real estate agents, and so forth. It'll likely be crowded during breakfast, and a local will likely get up to pour himself some more coffee and simply carry the pot around to serve the other tables. Sam's daughter will be your waitress. Don't miss out on the kibbie omelettes, which are basically the kitchen sink.

They're famous for their pies, the recipes of which were actually inherited from their previous owner. I must confess that I've never had one. I've been advised that it's best to order pies a day early.

I'll be down there again in August, and will try to take a few pictures.

Loved the kibbie and had both the omelet for breakfast and the raw beef version for dinner.
I look forward to returning again and again. Abe's tamales were so good we thought they out-shined the fine BBQ.
