Restaurant of the day

Is anyone else puzzled about the comments under the picture? "The steak is unique because it is made not from beef, but from a pork cutlet." It seems to me that what's unique is calling it chicken-fried steak when it's obviously a breaded pork cutlet. To me, that just makes it an erroneous description and not a unique item. I bet our Jewish and Muslim friends wouldn't classify it as unique. They'd classify it as false presentation.

Perhaps it's really a boneless pork steak.

isn't 'chicken fried' a particular preparation? something more and/or different than 'breaded'? seems to me that the description fits and is accurate... it's chicken-fried steak. a pork steak, not a beef steak.

If you didn't eat pork for some reason, you'd care a LOT what it's called. What we don't know without a picture of the menu (there may well be one in the actual review, I haven't looked at it) is whether it says "chicken-fried steak" or "chicken-fried pork steak". Chicken-fried is a preparation method, as opposed to simply being breaded, but it's hard to tell from the picture if that's actually chicken-fried or not. Either way, you'd think somewhere someone would mention it's pork rather than beef. And I agree...that does not make it "unique" at all. I would be cross if I thought I ordered chicken-fried steak and got a pork cutlet, because I detest pork cutlets no matter how they're cooked. Edit: Just looked at the actual review, and the closeup shot tells me it is chicken-fried. However, there is no actual menu.

Thirty seconds of Google research reveals this: $6.99 Chicken Fried Steak beef or pork cutlet breaded and fried with your choice of white or brown gravy and 2 sides (pork is best) Much ado about nothing, right? For you lazy ones, here's the link.

I wouldn't say lazy, I would say "have better things to do". Thanks for looking it up.
