Restaurants that close after a couple of months Tue, 06/14/11 9:31 AM (permalink)
We seem to have a rash of those in my area . They range all the way from small cafe types to steakhouses, sports bars and seafood places. Only thing I can think of is they are seriously under capitalized. The strange thing is you see of the places being worked on for months in preparation for the opening then poof! they're gone, many times before I even get to try them out. It seems to me you should have at least 6 months to a year of funding available before going to all the trouble of opening a restaurant. Of course I'm not privy to all the information so I could be way off base.
Usually when you see coupons showing up in the local paper the place is on thin ice.
