Under the heading of "suggest a joint" that someone mentioned, I will be eating at 2 places this week the deserve a trip/mention sometime.....both in Falmouth Mass:

1. Paul's Pizza....Really hard to find your first time, often a wait, phones are real BUSY5-7PM, and they close Mon & Tues yr round!  But!!!!!!........Pizza..of course!..spectacular (and they have a Linguica pizza that will have you eschewing peperoni forever). Fried Clams the way I like them (bellies, minimal breading, big).  They also have some great seafood dishes, good burgers and sandwiches (another hard to find..a Linguica sandwich with sauce..you'll only find it in a Portuguese area!) Full Bar

2. The Clamshack on Falmouth Harbor........guess the specialty?  What started as a small literal shack not even on the harbor now has the primo spot to watch boats come in and out of the harbor with a nice menu of some seafood and sandwiches. the penultimate lunch spot!  Even the angle of the sun is usually in your favor!

I may also be able to stop by Iggy's in Warwick RI to sample their goodies ( will wave to WJ!) and try a little Italian place up in SEMA that is supposed to be good, but only has about 5 tables

Details to come

I'll be waiving back-

Can I deter you from going to Iggy's?- great atmosphere, but honestly- the food is just not good..at all....

An excellent alternative is

The Crows Nest

You can ignore my advice and have very ordinary food or you can take my advice and look forward to an excellent meal.

Wade's Diner in Oswego, N.Y., the omelets are amazing, swell cottage fried potatoes, and thick cinnamon raisin bread that they butter & grill, not toasted. I drive a few times a year, 1 1/2 hrs. each way, well worth it. It's always worth sitting at the counter to watch them prepare the food. Delicious & fun.

Being from Oswego, I have a hard time agreeing with this one.  But to each their own.

Thanks for the tip!  Alas, the weather is looking iffy for the rest of the week so we may not be going boating on the Narragansett, but may give your place a try

This is a wonderful thread that I'll be returning to again and again!  My own list of unreviewed RF places is rather long with very little overlap here...which goes to show the incredible breadth of untapped RF out there, when so may folks have their ears to the ground...which is why I love and have always loved this site.  If I didn't have a regular job and were independently wealthy, I'd review every single one of them!  Alas, I only have so much time to devote to RF...  Thanks for all the great tips, WJ & everyone!  Chris

I keep trying to hit the mega millions or powerball, but no luck thus far.
That was my idea too, buy a Prevost Diesel Pusher and tour the country for roadfood.

BTW:  Congrats

I think (shameless self-promotion deleted) should also be on this list! The best ice cream and smoothies in the area. Protein Shakes and Raw smoothies. They rock!

Truladie I think XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX should also be on this list! The best ice cream and smoothies in the area. Protein Shakes and Raw smoothies. They rock!

Do they have anything which is a specialty of Georgia,  or anything that sets them apart as unique?

Since this is Truladie's only other post on this forum, I am going to guess it is less about having anything unique to offer and more about getting exposure for their restaurant.

Great list(s) WJ!
Still can't figure out why the Sterns dropped Jestine's in Charleston from the current Roadfood edition?
Other suggestion for one of the greatest sandwich shops in NoLa (or the world) would be Mother's. I have recurring wet dreams about the Ferdi Special.

And the mention of “Protein Shakes” should also result in an auto-flag SPAM notice. Protein Shakes for Roadfooders, I don’t think so.

Huber's was definitely in the most recent edition of the Roadfood book

Yes, I now see that it was just added to the current Roadfood book. Even though the Sterns were aware of Huber’s for years, they assumed that it was too touristy.

I will say that a lot of other Roadfood places are touristy.  Young’s Jersey Dairy in Ohio and the Blue Willow Inn Restaurant in Georgia are two examples that come to mind. They would not survive without tourists. I guess the bottom line is that the Sterns never had the opportunity to visit Huber’s in Indiana until a couple of years ago.

The Sterns did mention before that they're going to drop some restaurants in the book to make room for new ones. It doesn't necessarily mean that particular restaurant went downhill. I remember Travelin Man and I spent Valentines Day evening at Jestine's back in 2010 (much to the chagrin of my former girlfriend at the time) and the food was fine.

Southern Fried
...Protein Shakes....a resounding yes....Smoothies on the other hand are very Roadfood worthy (especially where you can get the best of the best in Southern California)

I enjoyed the experience of Hubers when I went with Mayor Al back in 2008

I have two candidates for Roadfoodom. One is in downtown Columbus and the other is in Logan southeast of Columbus.

The one in Columbus is Phillip's Coney Island. As the name would indicate, they're famous for their coneys -- hot dogs topped with a coney sauce. I get mine with mustard, coney sauce, chopped onions and shredded yellow cheese. But as far as I'm concerned they should be famous for their marvelous bean soup. Of course they have lots of other stuff on the menu, and I've had some of it over the years. It's all been good. Oh, they have pies, too. They're made daily by the pie makers at Der Dutchman restaurant in Plain City.

The other candidate is Bush's Family Restaurant in Logan, which is on U.S. 33 in Hocking County. Located at the south end of the city  Bush's offers down home cooking including Broasted chicken. They also have pies -- delicious ones based on the two lleechef and I tried. I love this place and can't wait to go back again. Next time I'm having the country fried steak (called chicken fried steak in a different geographic area of the United States).

I've been lobbying for YEARS for Harlow's Café in Tempe AZ!
They don't have a web site - don't need one!
Here's several reasons why it's a "Must Stop" if you're in the area.

Besides that--the food's OUTSTANDING!

I'm going to put together a list of local restaurants as well that I've enjoyed over the years. The local list will also include Southeastern CT and SouthEastern MA.
Although the list will include  a few iconic Southern New England Restaurants the majority of the list will comprise   "eat like a local" restaurants so there will be mostly higher end restaurants, ethnic restaurants and yes....burger joints. In my 13 years of living in Rhode Island I'm amazed at the burger culture that seems to exist here.

I just have a feeling that there will be less 'gate-keeping' for reasons other than food/culinary merit in the future than there may have been in the past.

Oh, ok, I get it

I thought you were referring to my strict  adherence to  regionalism....That hasn't changed (when I travel) but when I'm local I mostly "eat like a local" .

They are an excellent meal replacement alternative when prepared correctly. But I do get it...in RoadFood Forum you aren't necessarily looking for a Meal Replacement...LOL...I get it.
