You could have kept some credibility if you had changed your possessive pronoun from "their" to "our."

This place ROCKS is really, really good.

The Princess and I make the 90 mile round trip to enjoy it every other month or so; it is most definitely "Roadfood-Worthy".

I have two candidates for Roadfoodom. One is in downtown Columbus and the other is in Logan southeast of Columbus.

The other candidate is Bush's Family Restaurant in Logan, which is on U.S. 33 in Hocking County. Located at the south end of the city  Bush's offers down home cooking including Broasted chicken. They also have pies -- delicious ones based on the two lleechef and I tried. I love this place and can't wait to go back again. Next time I'm having the country fried steak (called chicken fried steak in a different geographic area of the United States).
http://www.bushsrestaurant.com/

I can second Bush's. I've been there a couple of times and they also catered our RV.net B Rally in the Hocking Hills area. I may be the only one to have ever had a fried breaded pork tenderloin sandwich there unless they were since inspired to put it on their menu. Because they did fried chicken and also served pork tenderloin medallions on their menu, I asked if they could put the two together on a sandwich. No problem for them and they worked one up for me. Of course it helped that I was part of a group of 100 people they catered meals to over four days. This is one of the few true pork tenderloin cuts I've had. Most restaurants use pork loin and call it a tenderloin because they pound them flat to tenderize them.

When I was trying to decide what to order at Bush's, MH told me the story about you getting a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich there!!  So far you are the only one to get that BPT because it's not on the menu!

Jim,
Blueberry Pancakes with Maple Syrup and a side of KimChee would be a unique 'fusion' breakfast.

In Cincinnati, the one place I hope the Sterns eventually get to is Sugar-n-Spice in Bond Hill

You'd be surprised that the majority of Rhode Islanders have never eaten Jonnycakes or even Snail Salad
If I were to conduct a survey of popular restaurants or dishes, Italian would certainly take first prize.....Steak, burger joints and Pan Asian are also very popular.  If there is one iconic item  that I can truly say is popular it would have to be Rhode Island style calamari.

I like, the omelets are amazing, swell cottage fried potatoes, and thick cinnamon raisin bread that they butter & grill. and also understanding that it is good business sense for the Sterns to have places listed in the Roadfood books that aren't reviewed here on the site.

I've never heard of Nick's, despite being in Brunswick and SSI 3 or 4 times a year.  You've made me curious, because truly great fried chicken is a rare and magical thing.

Bell's in Toccoa is the best fried chicken that I've had in Georgia, and would make a fine addition to this site.

I was reading Heartbreaksoup’s blog where he praises the roast beef sandwiches at the Sugar-n-Spice Drive-In in Spartanburg, SC. I have never been there, but it sure has the look of a good Roadfood destination.

The next time I am in Spartanburg, I will stop at Sugar-n-Spice for the roast beef. I wonder about the rest of the food there?

Hoosier Mama now has a location in Evanston, 749 Chicago Ave. I can tell you from personal experience, they are fantastic. So are their scones, turnovers, quiche.

My first pies there, the morning they opened. Apple and maple pecan. The crusts are all butter.

The perfect lunch. A biscuit with butter and jam and a piece of maple pecan pie.

Apple sour cherry. She (Paula, the owner) will only make cherry pies during the months that she can get fresh cherries. But the ones from the season before that are frozen she will use in combination with other fruits. It works beautifully. It's a great pie.

The flight. Every night after 6 p.m. you can choose 3 half slices from a list of about 5 or 6. This was chocolate cream, maple pecan and apple sour cherry.

Regarding Sweety Pies in Skokie; it should be noted that the Chicago area is now graced with a triumvirate of outstanding Pie Shops.  Sweety Pies Bakery, Hoosier Mama Pie Company, and most recently, Bang Bang Pie Shop.

Perhaps what's called for is an overall article about Chicago's Pie Phenomenon.

Ocala, FL used to be restaurant chain central, but in the past 5 years, really good local places have proliferated. There are seven I would recommend anyone driving through on I-75 or U.S. 441 stop and try:

The Schnitzel Factory at 1053 NE 14th St. — A half-dozen different ways to do schnitzel, $5 lunch specials.

Fat Boy's Barbecue at 4132 E. Silver Springs Blvd. (SR 40) — A local institution for 43 years. The Sonny's chain built a place right next door, but Fat Boy's is still going strong.

True Grits at 331 NW 20th Street, 1 block off US 441 — As the name implies, homemade grits done at least 9 different ways each day, lots of good comfort food.

The Lunchbox at 103 SE 1st Ave., near the downtown square — Solid comfort food for breakfast or lunch, best bacon in town, Big Dawg!

Dee Dee's Diner at 531 NE 1st Ave (at the Amtrak station) — Drive-through service for freight trains! 'Nuff said.

MoJo Grill at 2015 SW 17th St. — Started where the Lunchbox is now, business boomed. Moved to bigger digs in Pine St. Shopping Center, business boomed more. Moved to current MUCH bigger digs in a former steakhouse. Business is still booming. They have a second location in Belleview.

Stumpknockers — 10 miles west of I-75 on SR-200, but worth the drive. Best catfish in Fla. (all you can eat if you wish) and great view of the Withlacoochee River.

If I didn't live here, I'd do a trip report!

One place in St. Petersburg I'm surprised isn't on RoadFood is Ted Peter's Smoked Fish on Pasadena near the beach. Folks who went there as kids are now taking their grandkids there.

Hi Keysey42,  I live in Ocala too.  I have a few other places to add to your list.
Blue Highway on Silver Springs Blvd.    Their Pizza is awesome and their brownie desert is to die for.  The service is amazing too.
The Pizza Joint in Dunnellen is wood fired pizza at its best.  They also have homemade goodies on Thursdays and Fridays and the owner has added sandwiches to his menu. Oh, and don't forget a cannoli.
Stumpknockers is wonderful too.  I order fried fresh Haddock on the weekends.  Its not on the menu so ask for it if you are a fish fan.
Did you notice the Sam St John's on SR 200 closed.  I loved their fried clams on Friday Nights, but.. the place was kind of dirty.
There is also 2 other seafood places on RT 40 out towards Daytona, in the Ocala National Forest.  The Essex and Lena's.  Lena's has another place in Salisbury, Mass that is very popular in the summer.
I am from New England so I am always looking for a great fish meal.

Hi, hannah, nice to meet you here! You're right, I missed Blue Highway. I also missed another newcomer to the local scene, Eaton's Beach Sandbar and Grill, just off Sunset Harbor Road on Lake Weir. Great food, including house-made pastrami and the best chicken and waffles I've ever eaten (served with real Florida honey and Vermont maple syrup, both warm), plus a fantastic view of the lake.

Also, if you like pizza, try Pavarotti's in the Publix shopping center at On Top of the World on SR 200. We're not big pizza eaters, but the pizzas there look awesome. I have had their calzones, which are fantastic (I made the mistake of ordering a large one the first time, and got 3 meals out of it!), and their Italian entrees are excellent. The garlic knots are incredible, too.

Ocala has exploded with really good local restaurants lately — I haven't even gotten into the upscale places like Pi on Broadway and La Cuisine, yet, though I have been to Feta Mediterranean Grill on Broadway and the Braised Onion on NE 25th Street, both of which I highly recommend. It's almost impossible to keep up.

I believe there is still a Sam's St. John's Seafood north of Ocala on 441. I confess I was never a fan of theirs. We used to have a chain place called Cedar River Seafood, which was excellent. The closest ones now are in Gainesville and Leesburg.

One place I sadly can't recommend is The Yearling in Cross Creek. It was a local institution for decades, then closed down. A few years ago it was re-opened. We went a few months ago and were very disappointed — far more expensive and nowhere near as good as Stumpknockers.
