Why don't you just order a grilled pastrami on rye with Swiss, sauerkraut and mustard?

The Restaurant only offered a Reuben and a Grilled cheese sandwich, put it on Rye bread with swiss cheese, add pastrami, kraut and mustard............... If I was having lunch with Joe, I would tell them to give him the same thing only with Corned Beef............................BillyB

BillyB, My deli was out of pastrami or I probably would have went with a combo I gave it another try today and the results were the same, spectacular! I gave the bread a head start in the toaster this time. I think it helped hold everything together. I am really liking this hot plate. Tomorrows lunch.....venison steak with hot pickled peppers!

Michael Hoffman Why don't you just order a grilled pastrami on rye with Swiss, sauerkraut and mustard? Yep, That's what it is -a grilled pastrami on rye with swiss, kraut & mustard. What it's not is a Reuben. It may be good and everyone's happy and you love it but it's not a Reuben. Sorry.

Rusty246 I would eat that in a second and I don't care for sauerkraut. I'd prefer the mustard also. When it comes to sauerkraut, which is better, the canned or the chilled in the plastic bags(or neither)?? I would guess the chilled but I don't know any better. BillyB .... I buy my Kraut in Cans, glass, plastic buckets, I don't care what it comes in. The only thing I care about is that its good. The only reason I have not repurchased a brand is because it was to under cooked or two raw tasting. ... Actually, making your own is not hard and much better tasting; You can control the amount of salt used. ... dang ... drinking the juice is good. Just cabbage & salt and about 10 days much better Kraut than you can buy. ... Basically kraut is not cooked, except when canned and not refrigerated; ... then you have to stop the fermentation or the can or jar will explode. ... I hated, err, ... didn't care for kraut until I made my own!
