Road Trippin' from Tulsa OK to St. Louis...recommendations?

Heading to SL this weekend. Have great restaurants planned for there, but looking for places to stop heading up/back. Girlfriend is vegetarian, but will do seafood, &c. Let me know, RoadFood Nation!

Are you driving I-44 the whole way?  If you are, Country Bob's Cafe is a decent stop in the Rolla area.

If either of you have a sweet tooth, A Slice of Pie in Rolla is a great place for pie!  They do have a full regular menu, too.

The Bruncheonette in Joplin, MO is fantastic. I had a Cuban (pulled pork, sliced ham, swiss cheese, perfectly poached eggs and a touch of spicy mustard added to the hollandaise) Eggs Benedict there that was incredible. I believe my wife loved her Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Eggs Benedict as well but it was hard to hear her review over my moaning.

Talk about good timing; a co-worker of mine just returned from a trip to St. Louis singing the praises of a new 'Que joint there called Bogart's.  He says it is his new favorite place for Burnt Ends, even beating out LC's in Kansas City!  I can't back that assertion up, having never been to this new place, but I now have a strong motivation for making an additional stop in ol' Saint Looey next time we're heading west.

Can you imagine; first rate Burnt Ends followed by Frozen Custard at Ted Drewes?

Buddy, that is indeed good timing.  I will be in St. Louis this weekend, also.  And you can bet I will be visiting Bogart's Smokehouse!

The double cheeseburger I had a few years ago at Carl's Drive-In (9033 Manchester Rd. in St. Louis) was definitely one of best burgers I've ever eaten. Here it is:

They also have great homemade root beer.

From there, it was a relatively short drive to Ted Drewes for custard.
