It was a good article, but why, Jane, pick on St. Louis, my home town, with not one--but two--negative comments?

I'd say any place that uses a raw chicken to prop open a door deserves a negative comment, regadrless of what city it's located in. Buddy

I think that this article should be read aloud by ALL of US (maybe chanting with candles ?) everytime we start to get into one of these"PURIST" discussions (beans/no beans...BBQ...etc) Jane and Michael just reminded us of the real purpose of ROADFOOD! It is to enjoy food wherever we GO...AND GOING is Part of the Philosophy. We seem to be forgetting(at times) the concept of ROAD-food in our haste to perfect the 'food' side of the equation.

"There was one place in St. Louis where it was sweltering and they had a raw chicken, waiting to be cooked, being used to hold open the door." Hey! I think I've been to that place. Although, I remember it was a Chinese restaurant. As far as the pig's ear sandwich is concerned... any one who orders one deserves what they get. I agree on NM. I went there last year for the first time. The fact that I'm going back in a couple of months says that. Green chili cheeseburgers and Sugar's BBQ beef brisket burritos for everyone!

Are the Stern's afraid of non-metro Georgia areas, though? Nope, I don't think so.......Georgia has 27 listings.......our poor state of Alaska has 2 (the listing says 3, but it's 2), one that Al-the-Mayor did and another one by us! Anyway, it's not an easy drive in a Corvair from Connecticut to here.
