Why not? I had been to Julia's home several times as a member of the Boston AIWF. If she put her ENTIRE kitchen in the Smithsonian, I think the Sterns as authors of numerous books and experts on Roadfood (how many million miles?) certainly qualify for a place in the Smithsonian. After all, it is "Americana" at it's best.

Nora did an excellent write-up. It's almost enough to make me forgive her with "When Harry Met Sally." ;)

Curiously, the Smithsonian is sponsoring a traveling exhibition "Key Ingredients, America by Food". It is currently in Hayden, Idaho and Butte, Montana. More information can be found at www.keyingredients.org This exhibit, which I read about in the Horizon Air in-flight magazine, seems to be about the cultural, regional and industrial influences on American food.i.e roadfood.

The Kansas Museum of History in Topeka has a nice area devoted to roadfood. Keith

I think it would be a great idea! Be intresting if they did it by various eras to see what has changed, and what has stayed the same...
