Roadfood banner ads

Sometimes I wonder what the ad salespeople are thinking for some of the ads posted on Roadfood, but a recent ad for Papa John pizza got my attention. I took the deal ($10 any large pizza) and it was not bad. For what I paid, it was great. Have you ever responded to a RF banner ad?

I don't ever SEE the Roadfood banner ads, except when I am browsing on my EVO. The lack of ads enhance my browsing experience.

I am sure it is better whitout the ads but the ads as few as they are help with the cost of the site. Frankly, I am not sure how the Sterns and Rushmore pay for the site as the only money they get from the site is from the few ads. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

After this many years of being online, I honestly don't even see ads any more, I just automatically scroll past them. The only ones I see are the obnoxious flashing or drop-down mouseover ads, and those I make note of only to ensure I NEVER purchase anything those companies are selling.

Frankly, I am not sure how the Sterns and Rushmore pay for the site as the only money they get from the site is from the few ads. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN Paul - I actually hesitated to post my comments because I am aware of the value of the paid ads to the viability of this site. To that end, I did not post any specific instruction as to how someone else might do the same - though, quite frankly, it is not that hard to do. Understand, the reason I took the action I did was because some ads (on some sites...not even necessarily here) were becoming increasingly annoying (pop-ups; pop-unders; bright, loud, flash animation) and obtrusive. I don't mind being pitched a product, but the ad should not detract from the functionality of the web site (again, I don't necessarily mean here - but, overall, on the web, in general). As my work-around for ads has been around for a little while, no doubt someone else is working feverishly on a work-around for my work-around. Similar to folks' ability to fast-forward through the ads on the Tivo or DVR, companies became more savvy about advertising through different means. I am sure that will happen to the Internet, as well.
