Roadfood in the News (magazine mention)

In the June/July issue of "Jane" magazine (a Glamour/Cosmopolitan type of mag) there is an article on 3 different roadtrips some of their writers took. They were designed to be hip.

At the end of the article, there is a nice suggestion that one should "troll the message boards of Roadfood and Chowhound" to look for more Roadfood stuff.

(so if we see some new, hip members, this could be why the spike occured!!)

They go to towns like Ashland and Newport in Oregon, Pescadaro (where they had an animal style In & Out Burger) and Corning, CA (where they toured a chocolate factory). On the east coast , another trip went to Boston. Then onto Providence, Rhode Island, where they went to a nightclub called "The Living Room", and chatted it up with a guy with a mohawk.

I do recall wanderingjew had mentioned something about a new hair style...could this be it?

They were too busy eating their In & Out Burgers in Corning.
(after further review of the article, I realized they did not eat their burgers in Pescadero, but in Corning)

They did manage to make it to the Lindsay Olive Company in Corning for some cute and tacky gifts.

In Pescadero, they had some green chili soup and artichoke soup at Durarte's Tavern.

For fun, I just tried to find the Jane mag online. Viola! If you all go to www.janemag.com , the whole Roadfood style trip (there were actually 4 of them) can be pulled up easily. Just click on "in this issue".

When I googled, I realized I was way over their targeted age market. Jane magazine states it is the "womens lifestyle mag for ages 18-34". How did I get to be 48 , anyway?!? What happened? I don't FEEL 48!

Joking aside, When I lived in Rochester, NY. My neighbors both were Jew-Hawkers, and Al described them perfectly. Except with my neighbors you had to add the piercing squeal of a squad car, about every other week.

So I walk in from a 10-day trip to TN, where I did the requisite oozing over a newborn granddaughter and am confronted with this thread. Jewhawks, In-and-Out, an ellen4641 who can't possibly be that old, and a bird that's been mohelized. . . . I'm going to have a drink and go to bed and see if TOPIC_ID=20716 really exists in the cold light of day.

I disagree with you...But rather than offend your sensitivity, I will remove the posts. (This message is the result of a complaint about ethnic slurs within some of the messages above. No slur was intended, but the posts..and quotes of them have been deleted.)

It intrigues me to see the different twists and turns some of these threads can take.

Thanks for the kind words, Rick. (I always like to say that I am a VERY young 48) (about as young as they come, for my age)

Hopefully you will have some pics to share from your 10 day Tenn. trip.
