In a thread a few weeks ago about the Big W in Pawling, NY, someone suggested a stop at Robs on Rt 55, and I made a note to do so, but have not done it yet.

BTW: Hopewell Junction (used to be a RR junction) at the intersection of Rt 376 and Rt 52 has a smokehouse about which I've heard good things but have never visited. Anyone been there?

          Cheers, John

At the intersection of rte 376 & rte 52 as well as rte 82 & old hopewell road you'll find east fishkill provisions. This is originally a german family business that I have been going to for over 40 years.

Not only do they have a smokehouse, they make all of their own provisions, hot dogs, cold cuts, etc. The business was bought by a local family roughly 8 years ago, one of the original owners, Rudy, still works for the new owners so the old school quality remains today.

For a raodside business, Rob's on 55 in Beekman ranks second to none. A roadside pit smoker, he and his wife Ellen work this crazy busy lunch and cater to a huge following.

Both of these smoke joints are worth the wait, as I've said before, go early to Rob's...
