Even though I am not a big Rolling Stones fan, you have to admire their longevity.  Are they still touring?  Aren't some of the members in their 70s?

One of the great rock bands of history. Yes, they still tour. Bill Wyman is in my new film about Blues legend Howlin' Wolf.

The first time I saw them live was in 1989 at Shea Stadium on the Steel Wheels tour.  Everyone sarcastically referred to it as the "Steel Wheelchair" tour because they were so old.  That was 23 years ago.  I've seen them on 5 different tours since then and they seem to keep getting better.

Their studio recordings have been on a steady downward spiral in quality since 1972 (in my opinion, their last decent album was Tattoo You in 1981), but their live shows have always been phenomenal.

And what did Mick once say, somthing like "I'd rather be dead the to still be doing Satisfaction at 30"!

Street Fighting Man, Gimmie Shelter, Jumping Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, Some of the best Rock n Roll ever.

Charlie Watts is 71. If Bill Wyman was still with them he is 74. That is some staying power.
I have wondered is there any band today that will be around in 50 years? Hell at this rate the Stones may be!

Amazingly, U2 has been around without a single change in personnel for 34 years. Still putting out relevant music and packing stadiums.

As an age-progressing male, I always enjoy seeing both Mick and Keith up there ... they are both, in a way, inspirational.

And I actually remember when you went to that concert.

It was October of 89, and we were definitely working together at that point.  How YOU remember it is beyond me! Was I going on and on about it?

Does not seem possible that U2 has been around that long. And to still have the same line up makes it very impressive. Has Bono ever found what he was looking for?

More recall than memory, once you mentioned it, I remembered it because it was one of the very very few select occasions that you and the rest of the crew were not talking about sports.

Love the Wolf! I had heard his music done by others as a teen but didn't know what he sounded like until I bought the 'London Sessions' album. I found it in a cut out section, probably around 1975  for $1.99....best money I ever spent! I picked it up because I knew who he was and the back-up band included Wyman and Charlie Watts from the Stones as the rhythm section, with Clapton and Winwood (Ringo is on there too on 'Ain't Superstitious' recording under a pseudonym). I also wanted know more about Hubert Sumlin.

I now have a CD of it and it also resides on my MPs player 37 years later. The music is timeless, so glad he inspired people like the Stones , Clapton, Page, Taj Mahal, Captain Beefheart and Lowell George. These people are at the center of my musical universe.

They were at The Decade in Pittsburgh in '81. I lived 2 blocks away. I didn't see the show, but some friends did, and they came back laughing about this terrible band that played 4 songs, then took a break, then came back and played the same songs again!

(Some of us would say they're still playing those same four songs.)

With all respect due, few of their lyrics or music have permantently imprinted upon my mind: only a phrase here, a stanza there.

They were a great commercial success.  Nothing more.  Or less.

You just said in a few words what I wanted to say - it's great that they've been around for for so long but they're way overrated.
