Route 11 and 127 Yard Sales & Road Food

It's getting close to summer and that means the Route 127 (August) and Route 11 (May) will soon be upon us. The yard sales are each about 400 miles long in total. The one on Route 127 starts near Covington, KY and ends in Gadsen, AL. The Route 11 sale runs from Meridian, MS to Bristol, VA.

I know that Route 11 is known as antique alley and Route 127 is more general yard sale stuff. We've never been to either and we would like to check one of the sales out this year -- maybe the best criteria is on which route are the best places to eat?

Any suggestions for roadfood or other favorite stops on either route?

We've done the 127 from Covington down to the Tennessee Border. It makes for a full day's run for us. Food was strictly grab and run though. We were too busy hustling 'stuff' to think about stopping during the day for a meal. It was Capital BBQ in Franfurt KY for some mid-morning takeout Que, and then fair-food from vendors as we progressed South from there. We came home via rt 90 and I-65 Not much non-chain stuff on those 2 roads.

Great topic! I'd love to go on the May trip but, because of other travel, I'm going to go in August. Marberthenad, I'd greatly appreciate any information you can pass on about lodging or anything else (like the exact dates). Is there a web site you could recommend? I often travel with my Dad, who navigates like a carrier pigeon. This time I'm taking my Mother, which means that, without a little help, we may spend three tear-filled days making concentric circles around Covington, Kentucky.

I may be able to provide some info about Alabama eats, depending upon the route.

This is a good website to start for the August Route 127 sale.

We will probably do the Kentucky and Northern Tenn. end of the sale for a day or two in August this year.
