With the economy taking a turn for the worse, I can see a lot of restaurants like Ruby Tuesday's taking a hit. These places are all about feeding the middle class families, and I think the middle class families are not going to be able to afford to eat out as much as they used to.

I think they've improved tremendously the past year or so. Excellent appetizers and the menu has improved. Doesn't seem to have caught on with the public though.

When I was a child in a normal middle-class family situation with two parents, we NEVER ate out. Somewhere in my gut it bothers me to see families of limited means eating out all the time (usually at fast-food and/or chain restaurants), or getting take-out from chains.

This is not to say that I never spent my allowance or lawn-cutting money on burgers and shakes and fries, but my parents certainly never participated or encouraged it.

        Your milage may vary.

If I was at the Ruby Tuesday's you had your celebration at, I would have been very happy that the staff didn't sing to your daughter. What an imposition on other patron when a bunch of off key teenyboppers sing and clap and disturb my meal. I won't invite you to my parties and you don't need to include me in yours. As to the meal, well you get what you pay for.

We definately prefer our independent restaurants, and frequent them often over the chains...

Sorry to hear about your experience AngelaNJ,and by the way, we all aren't bums.
The one my sister and her boyfriend go to near Piermont,NY is pretty good.
It all depends on the management.I work part time at TJMAXX in The Forum in Selma,Tx. People all ways tell me how clean our store is compared to Ross in the same shopping center. We really work hard to
keep it clean, especially since the San Antonio Area District Manager
is always in our store since we are a top seller.
That's why some people have had good experiences at RT,and you and some others not, becuase management may or maynot care about the place.
If it's corporate run, there will be greater attention paid usally I think to how the staff acts, the cleanliness of the place, etc.

Now, if we could only get them to ship that crate out of town...

We've always had very good experiences when we visit Applebee's. The food was real good & so was the atmosphere. As far as the bit about them getting the meals shipped in from somewhere, we really don't care.

My husband ordered the triple prime burger. It looked nothing at all like the picture and didn't taste any different from my son's regular burger. It was dry and shrivelled up. We both doubted if it was the right burger.

We had a similar experience last month in Woodridge NJ. I said the exact same thing to my wife.

I agree with that as well... I find it highly annoying when restaurant employees sing to the customers. I once read on a menu at a restaurant, can't remember exactly which one it was (it may have been a RT or Applebee's, maybe a Claim Jumper) that they no longer did the "birthday celebration" as it bothered too many customers... I guess people spoke up enough and threatened not to come back.

As for the Triple Prime, I've had it, and it was a good burger, but not worth the extra cost. When I do go to RT now (every two months or so), it's the Ruby Mini's and salad bar. I'm just fine with that, and I always leave satisfied. I also don't really like the little dish of ketchup, but they'll bring you more if you ask... I would imagine it cuts down on ketchup costs because you don't have multiple customers dumping too much ketchup on their plates that they don't end up using.
Over all, I like RT and haven't really had a bad experience there.

Well, it does look filling. And dry.

The chains always seem to ruin their best dishes --- I loved the Chicken Fajita Salad at TGIF's in the early 1990's but then they destroyed it. It used to be very, very good. It's like they're always looking for ways to cut corners and at the same time it drives customers away

a chain joint like RT's & you expected good?
how can they get anything right when they change their menu for every fad dujour?
