If you're a fan of North Carolina barbecue, you've got to check out Butch's BBQ, on US 70 in Hickory. It's my favorite place in NC for 'que ( Lexington #1 is a close second ). Everything that I've had there is great; the pork, hush puppies, barbecue slaw, even the sweet tea. I highly recommend this place.

I like Carolina Barbeque in Statesville.  Just off I-77 at exit 49-B.

eagle6894, I couldn't tell you about that. It's been at least two years since I was last in Hickory. I sure hope that there haven't been any "changes" at Butch's since I was there.

I think somewhere around Statesville is that place
that serves bbq fried chicken...they fry it, then dip
it in this thin very hot sauce....never had it but it
looks good....might have seen it here or on hollyeats

Your are thinking of Keaton's.  It's about 15-20 minutes east of Statesville in Cleveland.
