Here is one of the recipes..Have not tried it.

      4 c. cabbage, chopped fine
      3 Tbsp sugar
      1/3 c. Heinz catsup
      2 Tbsp white vinegar
      1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
      dash (or more) Cayenne
Chop cabbage. Mix other ingredients until dissolved. Add to cabbage--mix well. Cover and refrigerate. Keeps practically forever

The slaw recipe from Wayne "Honey" Monk's famous barbecue joint in Lexington, NC!

        8 oz. black pepper
        1/4 tsp. ground red pepper

        Preparation:

A thousand and one recipes! Here's one more. As you can tell we're really just tweaking the amounts of the basic ingredients. I Googled this for my 4th of July BBQ and kept about six results. I liked this slaw when we went to the Lexington BBQ, but my family didn't. Too much of a cultural difference in taste for them. The wife's tastes are centered around the Salt Lick BBQ near Austin.

          "Classic Lexington Slaw"

          • 1 lb Chopped cabbage
          • 4 Tbs ketchup
          • 1 Tbs vinegar
          • ½ tsp salt
          • 3 Tbs sugar
          • ½ tsp pepper
          • ½ tsp red pepper

          Preparation Directions:
          • Mix all ingredients and allow at least 20 min in the fridge before serving. This slaw is usually served right on sandwich.

I've been using this one lately. Adjust for personal preference.

            Lexington-Style Barbecue Slaw

4 cups cabbage, chopped (a food processor works great)
            1/4 cup sugar (or Splenda)
            1/2 teaspoon black pepper
            Dash red pepper
            1 teaspoon salt
            1/3 cup ketchup
            2 tablespoons white vinegar
Combine all ingredients and leave in refrigerator until cold, at least 4 hours or overnight.
