harriet1954 I've always used that "Lite" salt. And Brian's so fast with that shaker that it's already on the food before I can say anything... If you have HBP, check with your doctor, this stuff may contain potassium in amounts that can be harmful to HBP patients.

NYPizzanut-"Smokers turn me off. " How on earth would you assume people were smokers?

I believe that he was referring to the poster who was sitting with a girl who covered her food with salt and that it turned off so NYPizza was implying that that would not turn him off but someone, who was sharing a table with him who smoked, would turn HIM off. I think I go that right.

Michael Hoffman harriet1954 What am I supposed to do? I've always used that "Lite" salt. And Brian's so fast with that shaker that it's already on the food before I can say anything... How about removing the salt from the table? The table at the restaurant? Where would I put it, Mr. Hoffman? And as for home, I do not keep salt on my kitchen table, and never have. Mr. Quick-as-lightning jumps up and gets it. He's VERY fast, and knows where everything is in my kitchen. I'm not going to hide it, and certainly not going to grab it from his hand.

Neither one of us has HBP - mine has always been a little lower, so I'm not concerned. Thank you for bringing it up, though.

Ask your server to remove the salt. Or, grab it and stick it in your pocket. Simple. As far as home is concerned, you said he's too quick to the salt for you to caution him about it. But if you've removed it from the area, then you certainly ought to have a moment before he can go find it to say something. If you really want to.

I salt during cooking, never at the table. I have accidently over done it once or twice, but usually I salt less than what you see chef and cooks do on TV. I cringe when I see how much salt Emeril uses sometimes. My brother, on the other hand, has a salt shaker the size of a diner sugar shaker. I have seen him salt bread and butter, cured ham, pizza, bacon...all before tasting...turns my stomach.
