Sam Fulton's Hog Sauce

Does anyone know where I can get this? It's been years since I found it in a specialty aisle at the grocery store. I have searched the web but came up with nothing. Maybe somebody knows something I don't...well...that goes without saying...but any help would be appreciated.

Surreal, Sam Fulton's Hog Wash(great name actually)was made at the same plant in Union, Illinois(Sam Fulton was based out of Rockford, contrary to the Chatanooga P.O. box listed on the label)that co-packs my Roadhouse Bar-B-Que Sauce. I got to know the guy a little bit through the co-packer and appearances at various food shows and distributor sales meetings(we shared at least one distributor, too). He was a nice enough guy with some big plans(he had another product out there, a silver dollar style pancake mix called "Baby Cakes". Again, cute name, huh?). About a year back, I realized I hadn't seen him around lately, so I asked my co-packer whatever happened to him. Apparently the rigors of the specialty food biz got to be more than he was interested in handling, so he dissolved the business. Unless he has started things back up and is using a different co-packer, Sam Fulton's Hog Wash is no longer available. Sorry, Buddy

Thanks for the info guys. I had pretty much given up on finding it but you just confirmed it, Buddy. Speaking of you, Buddy. I have been having trouble finding your sauce here at my local places here in St Louis. Where is the closest place for me to order it from (due to shipping costs)? Is there someplace that I could possibly order a sampler pack with all the different flavors? Thanks

I can't help wondering how it is that someone who lives in St. Louis is using the name of the Surreal Gourmet, Bob Blumer, whose books, and television program on the Food Network, are fairly well-known. As I understand it, Bob Blumer, the Surreal Gourmet, lives in California. His books include The Surreal Gourmet: Real Food for Pretend Chefs; The Surreal Gourmet Entertains: High-Fun, Low-Stress Dinner Parties for 6-12; Off the Eaten Path: Inspired Recipes for Adventurous Cooks; and Surreal Gourmet Bites: show-stoppers and conversation starters.

Surreal, I'll need to do a little investigating as to where you can buy our sauces in St. Louis. If I can't find a local source for you, I'll point you to a couple of websites who handle our stuff. Thanks for asking. Buddy P.S. Have you had our sauces before or is this the first time around for you? If you've purchased them before in the St. Louis market, at what stores have you found them in the past?

Buddy, I have bought it in the past at Schnucks but haven't seen it for awhile. I assume it's because it isn't quite summer yet (that is when I usually find it). I am just trying to get a jump on the Q'n season since it's been so unusually warm here recently. I used the last of it that I had in some baked beans and my girlfriend was "freakin" out about how good they were. Any info you can get me would be appreciated.

Hiya Unc! You're in luck, our sauces are available in Kentwood, at both Horrock's and an upscale grocery called "Forest Hills". I'm sure you're familiar with the former. If you haven't been to the latter, it's a great place, full of stuff to make a Roadfoodies heart beat a little faster. In fact I did a demo there last July, how come I didn't see you? That same weekend we were doing demos at stores in Holland, Battle Creek, Lansing and Okemos. Surreal, I'm still working on your St. Louis info. You are correct that we are a seasonal item at some Schnuck's stores. We also have our sauces in a few Dierberg's as well. Our distributor, Kehe(pronounced KAY-hee)Foods handles both chains. I've had other consumers go to the grocery or store managers of their local store and ask for a special order with great success. Hope that helps until I can get more specifics. Buddy

Next time, Vic. I'll even let you buy me a Coney when I'm in town. Or am I on the wrong side of the state for that particular delicacy? I'll keep you posted on our tour schedule. Buddy

As of right now, Grand Rapids is not on the calendar for this year. Things have a way of changing though, so you never know. When we do get into town, those both sound like fine options to me! Buddy
