Any information needed for this chain? When did they go out of business? And are there any of thier buildings still up?

I think there another mention of Sambo's on Roadfood. The name was considered offensive.

Pics and info here: http://www.tikiroom.com/tikicentral/bb/viewtopic.php?topic=12211&forum=6&15 I remember we had one in downtown Great Falls, MT. Ate there a few times and my Dad would go there for coffee before work.

No, I don't need any information for this chain, but thank you for asking. Apparently not too many other people desire that information either.

Sambo's was an early casualty to refocusing the concepts of ethnic correctness. I don't say that with any bias for or against the concepts presented in the signage or logos for the business. I remember stopping at a Sambo's or two and finding their food the equal to a NORM'S or JERRY'S sort of restaurant. Above Denny's and not quite a CoCo's or Chili's. The times change and the acceptance of that sterotype ethnic image is no longer acceptable. So Sambo's bit the dust (so to speak). I don't assign a whole lot more to the evolution of the food service industry. I guess I would just say-- Sh#t Happens!

Some of you folks may remember the * Chicken Inn * up in the Washington and Utah areas. That concept was definitely a casualty of political correctness, and rightly so.

I believe the original Sambo's restaurant is still open. According to Wikipedia, it is located in Santa Barbara, California.
