Sam's corner - Garden City, SC

Just south of Myrtle beach. The original Sam's corner is actually on the corner in Garden city, across from the Garden City pier ! I think he as some other stores now around the Myrtle beach area. He deep fries his foot-long hotdogs, in the same grease he fries his french fries ! Then tops them with whatever fixins you want. My favorite is mustard, onions and chili.

SAM'S HOTDOGS ARE UNIQUE AND UNFORGETTABLE. WHENEVER WE HEAD TO MYRTLE BEACH, SAM'S DOGS ARE ALWAYS ON OUR LIST OF GOOD EATS. I NEVER HAD A FOOTLONG WITH CHILI AND SLAW BEFORE. WHAT A TREAT. THE OLD TIME ATMOSPHERE JUST ADDS TO THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. I MAY JUST RELOCATE.

We usually spend a week in Garden City each summer and while we are waiting to check into our Condo, we always go to Sams Corner to eat a hot dog. They are very good and always the start to our week at the beach. My husband goes there every morning to get a cup of coffee before he walks the beach.

Guess I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I just stopped in at Sam's Corner this past weekend and it was pretty good for what it was. I'd always wanted to stop in there when I was a child (my family took many of our beach trips to Garden City) but my parents never wanted to, so I made a point to stop in there when I visited (had to check out the old arcade too). I had to get the hotdog (which was pretty good) and the crab cake sandwich wasn't bad either.

I think Sam's is overpriced. Hot dogs are just ok, nothing to write home about, imho.

After getting burned the night before at Thorny's to the tune of $70 between myself and my lady-friend (and a scorched prime rib that was nearly inedible), $23 at Sam's for a foot-long dog, crab cake sandwich, foot-long corn-dog, tea, a beer, onion rings and chili-cheese fries seemed like a bargain. Sure, it wasn't the best dog I'd ever had (the bun didn't hold together that well either), but I could eat it.

The only place in town where you can get a hotdog and a shot of Jack at 6:30 AM.
