Santa Fe BBQ Wed, 10/18/06 12:45 PM (permalink)
A new BBQ place opened in Santa Fe (Cerrillos Rd) over the summer named "The Whole Hog Cafe". I had some of their food (chicken, pulled pork sandwiches) which was catered at a benefit for Challenge New Mexico (a therpeuitc riding program). (I appreciated that, since everytime I went to the restaurant itself it had huge lines.) The day was great (out near the Horse Park, sun, mts, etc.) and the food was pretty good.

There is a dearth of BBQ in NM even tho SF is like 100 miles from Texas and has its "cowboy food" itself.

The Whole Hog offers its Q with 7 sauces:

Sauce No. 1: Sweet, mild, molasses.

Sauce No. 2: Traditional tomato, vinegar, slightly tangy.

Sauce No. 3: Same as No. 2, but much spicier!

Sauce No. 4: Traditional Southern vinegar & spice.

Sauce No. 5: Sweet, heavy, molasses.

Sauce No. 6: Rich mustard & vinegar, Old South favorite.

"Volcano": Available at the counter.

Apparently this is a small chain (Arkansas, Tenn, NO). Has anyone else tried this chain?
