It's a little north of Sarasota but Hickory Hollow BBQ Restaurant in Ellenton is a good economical place to try. The que is respectable but the sides really hit the spot if you like vegtables. Call before you go as I believe they are only open on Thursday through Sunday each week. John

Right around Sarasota, on three keys, are three great places: 1. Moore's Stone Crab on Longboat Key (go through St. Armand's Key and keep going) 2. The Broken Egg on Siesta Key (in between Sarasota and Venice), known for their big, fresh breakfasts, but I think they also serve lunch 3. The Columbia Restaurant on St. Armand's Key has a Spanish/Cuban flair. The 1907 Salad, made at your tableside, is a must-have!
