I don't understand this thinking.  Why would you ignore your customer's requests because you don't like sauerkraut?  Are you in business to make a profit or a statement?

Just like with any other food item, taste is subjective.  Nobody can tell you what the best kraut is.  Do a taste test with your customers and let them tell you what they like best.  You have to determine what the local palate is.  If you're not open for business yet, use a large group of people you know to taste test many items that you are considering selling.

I know I know. But I have a hard time seliing something that I wouldnt eat myself. The lasty couple weeks i have been debating it. I bought some and its just sitting there in the fridge. I wanted to try it before i sell it so i can get it right.
How hard is it to cook krout? Lol and the smell.

I am always giving what my customers want they want Diet rootbeer I get it and hold it till they come back. Anything and everything. It helps the come back.
I have a suggestion box and I am surprised that I get a krout request about 1 -2 times a day. I should just do it.

I love kraut onmy dog, Brat, sausage, whatever... preferably hot.  But since I have a kraut monkey on my back I'll take it cold too.

I'd add anything my customers want if it's safe and cost effective.

I like my kraut more on the sweet side like a Bavarian style with Caraway seeds. Sabrett makes a good packaged kraut as well.

when I was young I avoided it like the plague just because of the smell and then I tried some and was amazed at what I had been missing. I only like it cold and in small amount but in another thread found that the majority like it hot.

look how many people are sickened by the thought of slaw on a dog or even on a chili dog - TRY IT!

if you have that many requests everyday - its a no-brainer -I know youre all about the customer.

I always tell my crew, I don't care what you like, its what the customer likes and wants. I have a breakfast cook that hates eggs. I told him thats your problem, learn how to cook them properly, and live with it. I learned many years ago I don't run my business on my taste. It kills me when I hear a restaurant owner on (Hot dog Paradise)  TV travel channel say we don't serve Ketchup here. That is the stupidest comment I have ever heard. Kraut is as much a part of a Hot Dog as mustard, relish and onions. If you told me you didn't have the kraut because you Don't like it, I would go to a vendor that that cared enough about the likes of their customers and not their own...........Bill

For New Jersey, my vote goes to the fresh sauerkraut sold by Sunrise fresh:

Anyone who tries kraut will like it the 11th. time they try it... or sooner. Let me know if I am wrong.

My sweety will not eat a chili dog w/o kraut. It's not a deal stopper for me though.

Waydig, I also like a Bavarian style kraut especially on a spicy sausage dog. Not on a chili dog though. Regular kraut works better for me on that. Who else has tried the Bavarian?

Here in Milwaukee, many people doctor their kraut. Some rinse well, some do not. The brand doesn't seem all that important. I've tried the "fresh" in a bag, along with various different canned. The only one that jumped out at me was a German import that used Riesling wine as the liquid. Wow! Probably not cost effective or suitable for minors though. We usually add one or all of the following, brown sugar, caraway seeds, plain shredded cabbage, and diced apples. You probably can come up with a signature blend. Fwiw, I love sauerkraut, just not in a bun with sausage. Go figure. I'm not a mustard eater in any form except slathered on a lamb or a corned beef roast before cooking. Bad German I guess.

I buy a commercial brand and kick it up many notches, sell alot of it as a side and our Pulled Pork with Kraut on top as a platter.
Jack, your dead on about liking it after the 11th time, with me it was maybe 2 times, I didn't like it as a kid because it smelled bad. I love it now!

Despite the relatively high sodium count, sauerkraut is one of the healthiest foods for you to eat.
Especially for your stomach and digestive system.
