Savannah Recommendation

Got to Savannah too late for Mrs. Wilkes, so a local recommended Lady and Sons, a block or so east of the Market. It was great! Southern vegetables, chicken, hot hoecakes and cheese biscuits served throughout the meal, and great desserts. And service was friendly and great. Just had to share our find with anyone looking for southern cooking in Savannah...

I'll second this; when I saw this thread I thought someone wanted advice, and I was going to reccommend the Lady if you can't get in Mrs Wilkes or just want to try somewhere else...it's at least as good. It's a sure thing you won't leave hungry, and folks this is real Southern cooking, not what you get at the Cracker Barrel!

The place is owned and operated by TV Personality Paula Deen (Food Network) She does quite a job on her cooking show. We wil enjoy the place when in Savannah next month. Here's Their website. http://www.ladyandsons.com/

if you want to pay 16.00 (++) for some fried chicken and stand in line for a hour or two this is a great place to eat. most of the time you have to stand outside on the sidewalk and wait. not for me. cracker barrel is almost as good.

Please excuse me for being negative, but does anyone else consider Paula Deens show to be annoying? I dont know if it is Paula's personality or what I consider to be a very uninformative, un southern cooking show?

That may be because, I have reason to believe, Paula lives somewhere (Woodstock vicinity maybe) here in the Hudson Valley now-a-days.. Cheers John

To get back to the original question....A Savannah recommendation! We didn't get to eat there, but a few weeks ago Al, Janet and I found ourselves on Tybee island. My internal Roadfood radar went off loudly when we in the parking lot of a place called Loggerhead. I'd appreciate some feedback from anyone familiar with this place.

I had the Frogmore Stew (a.k.a., low country boil), spouse had a bucket of steamed oysters...both were excellent. Lots of fun, friendly, good Roadfood. Bob C in NC
