    Wow, that "normal" sized lobster is dwarfed next to that monster! It looks like you might actually be able to meat out of those lobster legs.

    He's certainly an amazing lobster. Why waste him letting the likes of the Red Lobster chain get ahold of him? Better to send him to the zoo.

    Looks about the right size for me. Yep, stuff him with lobster and bake that sucker. Oh, and may I please have a bib -- and some extra butter, too. A finger bowl would be good.

    on the day I was discharged from the Army,several friends gathered in Cape May,NJ for a farewell-to-me party. One friend was a commercial fisherman and managed to get two of these 20lb+ monsters. we cooked them in garbage cans(brand new) and they were delicious. I was given one claw,whose meat was comparable in size to a porterhouse. Don't let anyone tell you an old lobster toughens up,based on my only experience, it was divine,they were served with a handful of fries and 19 cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

    Another group calling itself People For Eating Tasty Animals reportedly offered Wholey a hefty price for the lobster. At Tuesday's price of $14.98 a pound, Bubba would retail for about $350.

    I think that the state of Maine has a lobster hatchery. They should take Buba up there and grow lots of children. Let those babies go into the Gulf of Maine to grow, and we can all be eating them in a few years.

    I disagree with you all! The lobster should have been released immediately when/where it was "caught". Dignity & the respect for life should have been preserved here. No wonder our ecological system is crumbling into probable extinction. Expecting flames galore...

    ADJUDICATOR: I see your point. Even though I enjoy a nice lobster dinner now and then, the plight of "Bubba", who had the misfortune of finally being caught "for keeps" after perhaps 100 or so years of safely roaming the sea-bottom, moved me. How sad that he wasn't released there and then. It's a pity that he died on the way to the zoo, but I think it would have been worse if he'd been auctioned off and eaten.

    I was sorry to hear the big fella died. I didn't want him to be eaten; something that unusual should be preserved IMHO, but I was hoping he could live in an aquarium. Guess he got handled too much...

    Lobsters are very fragile. I have gone diving for them off Massachusetts and worked for Yankee Lobster Co. You can tell how long a lobster has been in a tank by the length of it's tentacles. A 20-something pound lobster is not all that unusual. I used to love to bring the Jumbos out and watch the customers go WOAH!
