Mayo.... it's mayonnaise.  I don't know why that bothers me, but it does.

Maybe you wouldn't feel that way if you put some mayo on them.

I haven't seen the show in several years, but they used to say (and might still say) just before a commercial break:
"But, first...this is today...on NBC"

What the heck are they trying to say?    I think the translation might be something like, "First,we need to have a commercial break, and we are reminding you, yet again, that our show is named "Today", and we are on NBC."

I have a real problem when networks call these early primary "debates" debates.  They are not debates in any form or fashion.  They are question and answer sessions with a group of eight who think they have something to say that someone wants to hear.  And then to add insult to injury, the commentariat feels the need to crown a winner.

Debates should be Pro and Con, not "what do you think?".  Even the Presidential debates between the D and the R don't much follow any rules of debate, but at least they have an opportunity to knock the ball back and forth a bit.

Weather reporters who, during a storm,  say something like,
"The river will crest at 35 feet".

..... and then they stop, giving no additional information!
That's a meaningless number without also being given  the flood stage level.
What if the banks are at 40 feet high?  Then 35 feet is no big deal.    If the banks are 20 feet high, then it's a very big deal.
That's crucial information that they often omit.
It would be much more helpful if if they said, "The river will crest at 35 feet, which is 15 feet above flood stage."

Well, I guess inner city sounds better than ghetto.More politically correct.Where I live, my area is referred to as the western suburbs. There is no written use of the word on maps, its just a term used by the media, law enforcement, people who live here. And the inner city is, just that. It also happens to be where people of a certain culture tend to live, a community.Just like there is a heavy concentration of Italian Americans that live in a certain area of the east side. And as in any community where people share heritage, similarities in culture, or values, certain slang becomes predominant. Whatever, i am not going to talk about this 24/7.
Thanks, CCJPO

Inner city generally refers to the core city that matured before WWII to differentiate from the suburbs. Where I live, the twin cities Minneapolis and St. Paul had surrounding towns but few suburbs until after WWII. The inner city or those two municipalities account for less than 600,000 people out of a metro area of 3.5 million now. We now have a ring of "inner suburbs".

Sliders - Evey small sandwich, or little buger is not a damn slider. Slyders are White Castle's. Sliders are a term for a hamburger in the Navy, the way they slide across a grill in heavy seas.

Texted. I am by no means an English major. I spell bad, I have been known to butcher words. But texted just sounds so stupid.
