MacTAC beat me to it ... "...."to die for..." , As in, "That cake was to die for". There a lot of ridiculous food terms. "Divine" or "simply divine". 'That cake was 'simply divine' ". Really? Did it walk on water?

After reading the responses, it seems that some of you have pretty low boiling points. I see some sayings that irritate me or make me roll my eyes, but I don't see them as blood-boilers.

I agree. But, it would be difficult to find terms that can really make people's blood boil. Most are just irritations. Glenn

ann peeples 24/7 So, what do people use to descirbe something that is actually open...well....24/7? 24/7 is just an abbreviation. Do you say/spell it the long way? ... "24 hours a day. 7 days a week." ?? Thanks. Glenn

Denny's sign used to say "always open".Not sure if it still does. The ones that get me boiling are silly baby talk words spoken by grownups. "ersters" "nanner puddin" "taters" "pisketti" If kids less than 6 years old say them, they get a pass.

Yes, they should. The saying 24/7, at least in Milwaukee, was a whole different meaning. It wasnt used in business terms AT ALL. It was slang used to describe how one felt about life and things surrounding them. I worked in the inner city for years and this was used way before it became popular in the media. It was a threat "-look out for me 24/7, hate you 24/7, watch your back 24/7, etc... I admit I am a sucker for proper usage of the English language as I was taught. My father and mother are rolling in their graves at the slang and misuse of language these days. You and I are apparently of a different generation. I dont have to like what is being spoken.
