Schnack Burger - Schnackies

I'm pleased to report that Citisearch has just published a user poll that lists my burger, The Schnackie, as the best in NYC. That means we are tied for 1st place with Good World Bar and Grill. The Schnackie is a small burger, 1.5 oz, always cooked well done. It is cooked with a crusty exterior and still juicy on the inside. It is served on a tiny bun (actually a dinner roll) with Schnack Sauce. Schnack Sauce is based on Mayo and French Dijion Mustard and other spices. http://www.schnackdog.com This burger will not appeal to those who seek 1/2 pound or 3/4 pound burgers. The LINK is here -> http://newyork.citysearch.com/bestof/results/28/

It's not so much an award as a user poll that changes over time.. I've seen some competitors encourging people to respond but we didn't take that approach. Given that i've posted here a bit I figured it was time to make a mention. I'm also eager to try the other #1 burger according to the poll.. Of course you shouldn't believe everything you read, in the American food area we are beaten by a few places but some how we edged out the Four Seasons!

You need to be cautious about those ranking sites. They gave Wendy's a 9.7 on the Boston results. I can also tell you the number one rated place (with a score of 10) should probably be in 10th place. http://boston.citysearch.com/bestof/results/28/

We make the burgers in store with fresh chop meat that is delivered daily. While that meat is good for several days, if it doesn't end up in a burger within 24 hours it comes something else like meat loaf sloppy joes. The patties are made to order during slower times and pre-made at the start of the busy shifts.

Re: User Polls They just that. There is the great debate do you use professional critics or the public (e.g., Zagats, CitiSearch, etc.). There is value to the critics as they tend to be very even handed, but then they don't pay for their own meals and can afford to visit a wide variety of places. The value of the "peoples choice" is that they go places that don't fit into the critics lexicon let based on your example, Wendys. My own burger, the Schnackie, is a mini or slider. We cook it well done and dont' do any other temps (e.g., no rare, etc.). Now some critics (and people as well), perfer a 10 oz burger served rare. Mine is 1.5 oz well done, and for those people I'll never serve a good burger. Other people, because of diet or other reasons, like a small tasty bit of meat that cooks quick w/ a nice crust and keeps it's "juice" even though it's well done. Those people LOVE my burger.
