Scottsdale, AZ, in Mid-September

My employer is holding the annual company-wide retreat in September. We're staying at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, AZ. I'm looking for good places within walking distance for me and my compatriots. Obviously, prefer non-chain regional food, stuff I can't get anywhere else as good. Any ideas?

The Hotel Valley Ho is right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale and there are tons of places within walking distance and LOTS of night life too!
The Valley Ho is a "Happening" place!
Welcome to Silicone Valley!(Not Misspelled!) Lotsa Beautiful People!
There is a trolley bus system that runs all over the Old Town area so getting around is no problem.

There's also Bicycle Rickshaws that will take you anywhere.

There are very few chains in the area; mostly locally owned covering everything from hole in the wall to upscale!

I have NEVER had a bad meal anywhere in Old Town Scottsdale!
So many places, so little time!
AND the weather that time of the year is very comfortable. Best time of the year!

Great stuff! Thanks. I'll probably bounce a few specifics off of you as the time draws near.

If you've never experienced a dinner theater, this could be your chance. They are a little pricey, but fun. There are a couple in the area,, search Scottsdale Dinner Theater.

I noticed on your Bio that you like Jazz.
This would be  cab ride to downtown Phoenix but might be worth it.

If I were visiting Scottsdale I'd have to try this place:

On a more serious note, try the Old Town location of Oregano's.  We loved it!

Oregano's original location in Scottsdale is now the Brat Haus. http://brathausaz.com/
Oregano's moved further South on Scottsdale Road into a bigger place and is no longer in the Old Town area.
I saw an article that says most of the places he visited are now out of business!

Donn and Charlie's is great! I love their Chopped Steak Chicago Style, made from the ground up cuttings from their fresh cut filets, chuck, prime rib and sirloin. Chicago style, charred outside and medium rare inside----delish!

D & C was also named "One of the Top 10 Sports Bars in America" by USA Today.
Their sports memorabilia collection is like a Sports Museum. It's a regular hangout for ball players during spring training time and they have one of the largest signed baseball collections you'll ever see.
