Scruffy's Chicago Hot Dogs Springboro Ohio

Tough to find a really good Chigago style Hot Dog in Ohio. But this place serves them correct. Vienna Beef, Poppy Seed Bun, Neon Green Relish, Sport Peppers, Tomatoe Wedge and Mustard. Plus he won't serve Ketchup to anyone under 17. Personally I think 12 should be the cut off. He has his Diploma from the Hot Dog University posted proudly on the wall. He has been at the location since January and appears to be doing well. The place is SPOTLESS! Service is excellent and the owner is a charachter. Takes pride in what he does. I didn't try anything else on the small menu but the Chicago Dogs Were Top Notch. This is a sit down place and very comfotable. If you are in the area YOU MUST STOP IN!

When I'm in Lebanon in a couple of months I'll have to pay him a visit, maybe with some of my friends who've never had a CSD.

I can't wait to try this place out!!  Thanks for the tip.  Is it under or over 17?  I thought that conventional wisdom was that anyone 18 or over should NOT be eating ketchup on their dog.  So I'm thinking the rule might be "he won't serve Ketchup to anyone over 17?"

Steve Bell, the owner of Scruffy's is a proud graduate of Hot Dog University. In fact, he graduated magna cum laude, which means he does everything by the book.

Excellent that you found a place near you! There are very few places in the Milwaukee area that serve them correctly.

Here are some of the best, in no particular order:
    Martino's
    Dr. Dawg
    Dogg Haus - numerous locations
    Sammy's

I never made it there last year but rumor has it that we'll be going to a wing place in Springboro in a couple of weeks, so maybe I'll be able to pop in.

Didn't you say once in the past that you might be driving through La Crosse? This place is run by a Chicago expatriate.  Has all the usuals, including the pepper and eggs on Fridays.  One of the good things we have here!

I see the owners are from BER-wyn.

However, I suspect by that time we'll have eaten at 1 or 2 other places on our way down from the Cities and will be getting on I-90 instead of venturing into La Crosse.  But I'll keep it in mind - thanks!
