I've eaten at both Side Street and Watermen's Inn - but only in the summertime. No complaints.

It's been a couple years, but when my sweetie and I went to Crisfield to catch the boat for a weekend at a Tangiers Island B & B, we had a chance to eat lunch and dinner in Crisfield. There's a rather large restaurant there very popular with tourists and another one a few doors away that's popular with locals and tourists. The latter is not quite so pricey. It's the Captain's Galley Restaurant.

It was mid September when we were there, so I had Maryland soft shell crabs both meals and my sweetie had Backfin crab cakes. We were on a seafood vacation up and down both sides of the Chesapeake Bay. The soft shells were fried to perfection and the crab cakes were as good as we had anywhere along the bay. In Maryland soft shells are simply grilled in a bit of butter.

I loved my food at The Captain's Galley. That's one restaurant I'll never forget or stop missing.

It's good to know The Captain's Galley still pleases. I'm glad the two of you had some good crab cakes.

I learned today that The Captain's Galley has closed, at least temporarily. Apparently, they sold out to a builder who is going to construct condominiums on the site. Although the plan is to put a new "Captain's Galley" in the condo building, see http://www.delmarvanow.com/somerset/stories/20041124/1642547.html , who knows if it will have the same ownership or personnel, not to mention the same quality of food. A shame!
