To the fellows with trailers and food trucks- how do you secure your appliances, tables, etc in your units?

I went to tractor supply and bought tiedowns. I screwed them to the floor or walls. When I move the trailer I get out all the ratchet straps. My fryers have a (gas line) safety cable to the wall as well.

Be careful about bolting stuff to the floor or walls unless you have room underneith to clean. Your HD will not like you if you cannot clean under the appliances.

Hey new member here, but this I can answer. I have a food trailer( concession trailer) with a step down in the front. So I put all of my appliances on the floor in front and there is just enough room that nothing really moves much. I have the table top fryer, flat top frill, heat lamp, table top oven, and hot dogger all in this step down area, they all fit just snug enough to be secure. Yes, it is a pain, especailly the flat top grill, but I would rather do this than to have all of my stuff thrown all over the trailer. However, I am intersted to hear more about securing stuff too, especailly once I purchase a gas (LP) grill and fryer.

OK, I will try this again. I am new, but I can answer this one. I have a food trailer (concession trailer) The front part of the trailer has a step down so once everything is cleaned up, I put all appliances on the step down part of the trailer. I put the table top fryer, table top grill, table top oven, heat lamp, and hot dogger all on the floor during transport. There is just enough room for everything to be snug enough not to move around too much. However, I too am intersted to see other ideas, especially since I am thinking of buying gas appliances, don't want to have to mess with disconnecting all the time.

My 3x3 griddle, wok, fryer, 4X3 commercial fridge, and my shelves are all either bolted or tap screwed into the walls and floors. I have space to clean under all my appliances with a large brush so it's even more efficient for me. For the legs all i did was get 1/2" galvanized pipes and screwed on bases that had four holes. Than i shot pretty decent sized tap screws into the bases through the floor. Nothing has tipped over yet and i have gone over some pretty good bumps and gutters. I will upload pictures as soon as i hit my post count!

We use L brackets attached to the walls and the stainless steel tables. The freezer and refrigerator have eye bolts mounted through the trailer floor and use ratchet straps during transport. All the loose items generally fit in the sinks during transport. The sandwich press is so heavy we just sit it on the floor. All of the expendable items are in plastic containers on the bottom shelf of one of the stainless steel tables and we use bungee cords to keep them in place. Just to be on the safe side we attached horizonal runners along the wall screwed into the trailer wall studs. This gave use more latitude to attach to the wall.

Hi folks, I'm getting ready to mount my equipment, can any of you with experienced rigs post photos of your mounting systems? Before i start drilling and cutting, I'd love to see how you long-timers have been doing things... Cheers, Dave

What about friers? How do you keep the oil from sloshing and spilling in transit?

Empty the fryers before moving. You gotta clean them every now and then anyway.

I'm beginning to think I may put some sturdy 0-rings of some mounted on my walls, and then just ratchet strap them down when I have to move the trailer

i would thing "L" brackets would be they way to go for the larger appliances(cookers/reefers) smaller loose items with no dedicated drawer could go into the sinks, and counter top appliances(heres where it gets cool)....... if they are in their place, and you have determined that they are in their permanent place, remove the screws that hold the rubber feet on, then mark the countertop where the screw holes are at, drill the holes, and place the unit w/feet into position, then use a longer screw and run the screw up through the counter top and back into bottom of appliance....... it sits there with no visible restraints, and will never move on you might be a b**ch to clean under though....

http://dormont.com/dmc/foodservice/safetyset.aspx I'm going to use some of these, since I have a 6-burner range, full-size food warmer, 40lb fryer, and a gas full-size convection oven all on casters. These things look to simplify the process, and I'm sure the inspector will love them!

I don't think those will save your equipment from accidentally flying over a bump or a dip IMO. Those look like they are used just so the equipment doesn't move in a normal restaurant kitchen. I really suggest bolting them to the walls and/or the floor, i have taken some good bumps (jumps) because i could not see them and my equipment does not even budge. I will get some pictures up soon.
