We recently did a bit of "Route 66 Exploration" and spent the night at The Historic Route 66 Motel and had dinner and breakfast at The Road Kill Cafe in Seligman, Arizona. Both can be recommended for good food and lodging.

I love the name! A lot of us zip off I-40 onto something like Santa Fe Avenue in Flagstaff or Central Avenue in Albuquerque to get the flavor of the old 66, but you really got into it. I'm impressed. Thanks for the rec.

Best restaurant in Seligman is Lilo's! Some German food on their good menu.

I love following the Old 66 route from Needles thru Oatman to Kingman...Then chasing trains along it to Peach Springs and Beyond (Seligman). We have spent days in that area enjoying the echoing train horns in the canyons near Valentine. If you want a great dirt-road adventure follow the River Road from Peach Springs down to the Colorado River at the West end of the Grand Canyon. The local Indians control the land and the road and charge a fee ($5.00 last time we did it) to use the road. It is pretty rough, but we didn't have a 4wd last time we did it (in a 2wd Explorer). Spectacular is a real understatement about the desert beauty and 'feel'. Inquire about road conditions and register to use it at the office in Peach Springs. It is about 23 miles each way...and a very S L O W Ride in the dry creek beds at times...but you will love it ! Please pardon the Low-Res Photos... Here is the broad view as you head down the road. And the parking area at the riverfront , Primitive but beautiful !!!

My Bride & I are taking a long weekend trip up to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon to celebrate our 52nd Wedding Anniversary! We're going up to see the new Hoover Dam Bridge on Friday. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-10-18-hooverbypass18_ST_N.htm We're staying in Kingman Friday night. We're going to see the New Sky Walk Glass Bridge on Saturday. It is made of Glass or a clear component and protrudes out over the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. The drop is about 4000 FEET! Talk about Vertigo! http://grand-canyon.com/grand_canyon_skywalk.htm . Late Saturday afternoon, we're going over to Flagstaff for the night. Which brings us to my request. I'm looking for places to eat along that I-40--RT 66 Corridor; Kingman, Peach City, Seligman, Williams, Flagstaff area. Cough up some ideas please!

I can only suggest the Bar 7 restaurant and bar in Wickenburg for a decent dinner or, The Twin Wheels Cafe also in Wickie for breakfast. David O. p.s. Congrats on 52 years of wedded bliss.

We'll be in Wikie for Breakfast. Do you know anything about The Horse Shoe Cafe in Wickie? And who said it was "Wedded Bliss"?
