Selling hotdogs on the beach?

Is it legal to sell hotdogs on a public beach? If so, do I have to get a permit for every beach. The beach I am talking about is South Beach FL.

Thanks

I too would be interested in this. Growing up I helped my cousin run a concession truck with dogs, drinks, chips, suntan lotions and frisbees for the most part. I had a blast but then I was a kid. I've thought about doing this when I retire and have told my daughter this is what WE would do! A couple of years ago when I was in Daytona for the races we stayed beach front and I met the nicest man. He had a degree in Civil Engineering and told me that starting his hot dog business was one of the most challenging feats of his life, BUT he wouldn't change a thing. Which tells me, it's hard work!

The average age student enrolling at Hot Dog University is 45 to 55. Yesterday, I spoke with two prospective students, both age 55. You're never too old to go into business, it's only a question of when. My motto is "Your Time Is Now." Today, I received my license from the City of Milwaukee. Saturday, March 17th, St Patrick's Day, will be my grand opening. I'm vending hot dogs and Polish at the Saturday brewery tours at the Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee. I'll turn 60 in September. www.lakefrontbrewery.com

I can retire with 30 years at UF when I'm 49, only if I can afford it! Would love to attend your "U". I may just have to talk to several different vendors on our beaches over the years and get some tips.

I am only 23 and a disabled vet just looking to get started now to do this on the side and keep working capital for my other business. So is it legal to serve dogs on the beach?

Here in Bradenton, the beaches are controlled by the County. They have restaurants which they lease out for very big profits..Will NOT ALLOW any cart vendors..

Yes. One permit should cover all beaches, you'll need other permits. Yes.

Being a disabled veteran will not help with the local paper pushers. They can be ambivalent to those who served. Check with your local V.A. representative as they may have programs that will help get your business started or loans.

Every beach is different. Check w/ the cops...vets get a break and deserve it. Civil war vets called it "seeing the elephant, and I don't want to see him ever again".

I made a bunch of bucks after my southeastern Asian vacation in the late sixties selling sprays of suntan oil and hot dogs...kinda like a shoe repair and tax service. Great way to meet those of the opposite sex however. Big Daddy's at Daytona was out of this world.

But at the time I probably wasn't sane but was overly medicated. May still apply except for the medication part.

Anyone been to a beach that had carts around? I don't recall ever seeing any.

Daytona Beach has all kinds of vendors ON the beach but of course you can drive right on the beach with your vehicle. The sand is firm enough you don't need 4wheel drive and even full size walk in van's have no difficulty. Im sure theres a couple of miles of red tape to get a permit however.

You cannot get a permit from the County, they are frozen. The only way to get one now is to buy it from an existing vendor. Needless to say, they are very expensive.
