This is a prime example of a time when I disagree w/ the Sterns. Nothing from Texas or any place in the south? Four of the five places have beans listed...chili w/ beans?

I assume that the chili joints in Texas and the SW were put in their own separate category as professionals.

I'll eat chili anywhere in the U.S. but I do enjoy Milwaukee's real Chili. I had heard that the original owner worked at Green Bay's Chili John joint and the two chili's are similar. I confess to never having had Chili John's as a trip to Green Bay finds stopping at Kroll's mandatory.

The best bowl of chili I have ever had was at Real Chili in Milwaukee and they definitely deserve their place on the list of best chili parlors.

Doesn't that chili from Dot's look good? On a cold, snowy evening like tonight, that would have been the perfect thing to eat.

I got a report recently that you can still get a bowl of Benny Binion's Real Texas Chili at Binion's in downtown LV. The chef said he has towned town Benny's recipe just a bit, but my friend who has had many a bowl of the real Benny's, said it was still good. This chili should go on that other list maybe?

Nothing from the whole Southern and Southwestern half of the USA. No Texas, No New Mexico, No Arizona, No California (or Utah/Colorado/Nevada) Or the other Rocky Mountain states. I find this quite difficult to understand. It looks like the cards were dealt in an unusual manner! Let's check the hanging chard on the ballots!!

There are no Florida entries on the ballot!

 I don't usually order red chili at a restaurant because I prefer my own and don't want to be disappointed with bad chili. Sometimes I make it with beans and sometimes not. I always use a few chipotle peppers for a little extra kick and smokiness. I have been to a few CASA events and have enjoyed most of the offerings. They taste similar to what I make and would be classified as "classic Texas Chili" i.e. no beans or other fillers.

Hard to believe that Chili John, of Green Bay WI and Burbank CA is not at the top of the list.  That cheese on top of the Dot's bowl looks all wrong.  Others below that look good.
