I have one DVD set of the first few seasons. When I watched, many of the clips that are on the DVD are still in use today, though many have been retired. I found several I had to fast forward through.

Putting Cookie Monster on a balanced diet was not a good thing to do. I think the problem with children today has nothing to do with Cookie Monster eating cookies and other things. Has Sesame Street also become a parent? I would hope not.

Some of the clips were long compared to today, and I know many have been retired. The clip about the firefighters was lengthy. It showed what happens at the station and when they get called out. I could see a modern clip with Elmo putting out the fire and telling the people that just lost everything that they can move right back in.

I will admit I have not seen any current episodes. But these unsuitable episodes helped get me what I needed at the time. These were all pre-Elmo. I find Elmo annoying. It is my understanding that characters like Maria and Susan barely get any airtime. Gordon has been recast twice. From watching the DVD set and seeing Matt Robinson, it did bring back memories, but I remember Roscoe Ormann in the role (the current Gordon). I know I saw Robinson as Gordon.

The DVD set included some retired clips. The baker clips come to mind. At the end, this baker has X amount of (cakes, etc). He then loses his balance and falls down the steps and gets covered with the product. As I understand, this segment was retired because some kids tried the stunt. We all take our falls and such.

Did the number painter encourage kids to paint graffiti? Big difference... the number used a brush and can, as opposed to spray paint. I thought this was a way to encourage writing, but what do I know?

This post has been brought to you today by the letters F and I, and by the number 9. This post is a production of Big Dave Enterprizes, which is solely responsible for its content.

I watched Sesame Street a lot as a kid. Can I blame them for the way I turned out?

Omg.  This is really stretching to make a story.  Crappy journalisim at it's worst.

Sesame Street was wonderful. My little ones (mid-seventies) also loved Electric Company and School house Rock (I think that was the name.) All good shows with morals, lessons and education. All gone!

My little ones still watch Seasame Street, Electric Company sometimes, and we have Schoolhouse Rock collections on DVD.  It's still good children's education, not nearly as bad as it's being made out to be.

We have Old School Sesame DVDs. And My 2 year old watches the new stuff.

Keep in mind, sesame street in the 70s and early 80s was not meant  for Zero to Three kids. It was meant for pre-k through1st  grade. A little older than the target for today's Seasame Street. However, there's nothing inappropriate about the older shows even for the younger crowd.
